cant advancement in radio
broadcasting since the intro-
duction of FM stereo more
than 50 years ago. With HD
stations broadcast programs
digitally - “a tremendous
technological leap” from
analog, Wind said. With HD
there is more available on the
dial, similar to the increase
in choices one finds going
from network only TV to ca-
ble. The station was the first
radio broadcast outlet in the
Coastal Bend to launch HD
digital service and the first
to multicast additional chan-
nels of new programming for
its listeners. The digital era
of KLUX became a reality
in November 2006 when it
made programming from the
Relevant Radio Catholic Net-
work available. To listen to
HD radio, however, listeners
need a radio with HD receiv-
er. These radios are available
at many area stores.
Besides HD broadcasting,
KLUX is also available on
personal computers or other
electronic devices. Listeners
can tune in on the iPhone
or the iPod touch. KLUX
streams on the Internet uti-
lizing Shoutcast available
as a free download. People
