perous people i thank God that after four
years of the bloodiest wur ln the annals

ageous men who fought for the Southern
confederacy were able to return borne and
apply their energies to the upbuilding of
a common country Though stricken with
poverty and scarcely able to by food and
clothing by tho application ot untiring en-
ergy and splendid minds they have made
tno South to bloom and blossom like the
rose I also thank God that from the
loins of thoso brave and chivalrous men
iave spruug a sturdy and courageous tribe
of young men and young women ho will
yet save the American Republic from

reunion Governor Sayers Judge Reagan
and the next governor Colonel Sam Lan

Beaumont Texas July 31 A genuine
gusher of the old fashioned type except
that there was rather more gas In It than
was usual broke loose yesterday afternoon
and was not headed off until this morning
at 0SO or about that time It started at
1 oclock yesterday and spouted mud oil
and gas above the derrick to a constdera
bio distance and went on with Its roar all
through the night unchecked It was the
McFnddln No 4 ot the J M Guffey com-
pany and ls tho same well or near the
same one that came ln with this same kind

Fort Worth Texas July 31 Superin-
tendent Taft of the WollsFargo Express
company said today that Special Officer
Hughes of the company had identified
Bill Ingram alias BUI West uuder
arrest in Mexico for robbing the Wells
Fargo Expresc company of 53000 as be-
ing none other than Bill Taylor of the
Black Jack gang which has for many
years terrorized the people of West Texas
Taylor It will be recalled escaped from
tho Brownwood jail July 10 llKjO along
with several other prisoners Ho was to
be tried for the murder of a trainman who
was killed when tho Blaclt Jack gang held
up a Santa Fe train at Coleman Junction
some years ago at which time Bob
Buchauan of this city a Santa FC claim
agent singlehanded stood the robbers off
with his Winchester and succeeded In
wounding Taylor nnd two others of the
gang
f Taylor was subsequently arrested during
a running light with a State Ranger posso
near Laredo tried and convicted of partici-
pation ln the robbery and sent to the ptul
tcutlary Another of the gang named
Ketcham was captured tried convicted
aud hanged at Roswell N M It ls be
llced that Taylor ls tho only surviving
member of the once noted robber gang

lative board ot tho Brotherhood of Loco-
motive Firemen of Texns which has been
In session hero for several days concluded
Its labors today and adjourued after elect

large attendance was present during the
meetings and much enthusiasm was mani-
fested During the sessions considerable
discussion was had In regard to the atti-
tude which was said to bo assumed by the
membership of the order on political iie
tlons It was flnnlly decided that t would
be the policy of the organization io sup-
port those public officials who ruvor legisla-
tion which would be beneficial to the labor-
ing people regardless of party affiliations
Resolutions were passed indorsing the ac
tlon of the State democratic convention In
condemning child labor and also the refer-
ence to the alleged action of the Agricul-
tural and Mechanical college during labor
trouble Resolutions were also adopted
favoring the passage of an eighthour law
and expressing sympathy for the striking
railroad emplo3es throughout tho State
Resolutions were adopted Indorsing the ap-
plication now pendlnc of O L Kinsley of
Yoakum for the position of postmaster of
that place The board also passed resolu-
tions tuanktug the members of the legis-
lature for favors received

ot this kind that Engineer Boschkj who
has the work in charge does not make any

are no unlooked for Interruption it should
