tremendous success," Fischer
said, "and we see no' reason
why this year’s drive can’t be
even better. Despite these
affluent tunes, the needs of the
k>ss fortunate popple are as
great as ever-iind we urge
and plead with every citizen
who is able to search their
homes for suitable donations."
The CMF workers said that

will be picked p at the homes
if the donors will call.Fincher,

There will be boxes placed
in most of the grocery stores
next week for those who would
like to donate any non-perish-
able food items.
“We want' to encourage
citizens to donate as soon as

RAMBLINGS—
(Continued from page 1>
Seventh Edition, says the plural
of •’doe’’ is “doea" or “doe”.
Take your choice. Do you or
does you not believe that two
does does not constitute a mis-
spelling and three does do not
necessarily have to be spelled
the same way as four doe do?
The English language will
give you fits if you let It . . .
and most of us do. The plural
of bus is either busses or buses.
A bus is something you ride
in, and a buss is a kiss, U you ,
want to get technical.
Another reader recently cal-
led our attention to the fact
that resume and resume are
spelled the same way. You re-
sume doing something, but you
give a resume i res-u-may) or
summing up of something that
happened. The trick is that
using resume in the latter sense
demands one of those little w
things over the final “e.” Since
most newspapers don’t have
those little things better you
should just write around it and
say you gave a summary.
Crasy. Man . . .
THE SUNSHINE Magazine
| "puts it this way:
A stranger in our land was
lie; he tried to learn our spell-
ing. He thought it would as
easy be a$ buying or as selling.
He tried to write, but couldn’t
1 quite learn when to wrlght or
right, He could not tell just
where he stood, when using
cood or wood or shood. He had
to stand a lot of chaffing, when
: cruel, people started Laffing.
Then other things confused him
i so, as doe and dough and roe
and row', and mail and male
and sail and sale, and many
more that turned him pail. Said
he, "I left my wife and daugh-
ter in other lands across the
waughter; I wanted much to
bring them hare, but they will
have to stay, I fere, and I must
leave you.” With a sigh he
added, "Else 111 surely digh."
