The vote is the cornerstone
of a democracy
Not the wav you vote, not
what vour individual Udiefs
are, but that you go to the
polls and cast your vote in each
and every election in which you
are qualified
It is an easy, painless
responsibility that each and
every citizen 18 years old and
over should exercise
For those who are 18 and
have just been handed the
responsibility of the vote, it is a
time to make a lifelong
resolution - "vote in every
election.”
On Tuesday. Nov 6. there
will be a special election on
proposed constitutional
amendments for the state of
Texas
This election is just as im
portant and just as necessary
as those in which persons are
elected for office, perhaps
more so
The amendments are
-No I To provide for
regular annual sessions of the
legislature The regular
session in each odd numbered
year would not exceed 180
days The regular session in
even numbered years would be
not more than 60 days
Provide an annual salary for
members of the legislature of
815.000 and a per diem of 818
per day for each day of each
regular or special session
No 2, To include within the
scope of homestead protection
the real property of a single
adult which meets other
requirements of homestead
property. and to provide that a
family homestead may not be
abandoned except with the
consent of both spouses
-No 3 To extend the 83.000
ad valorem tax exemption to
the residential homesteads of
unmarried adults
-No 4 To provide that no
