January Texas Dairy
Products Output Slow
Output of dairy products in Tex-
as slowed down during January,
the University of Texas Bureau of
Business Research has reported.
Cheese factories held production
6.2 per cent above January last
year but the estimated output, 1,-
061,000 pounds, was 5 per cent un-
der December.
Creamery butter production was
estimated at 1,991,00 pounds. 9.6
per cent and 5.2 per cent under
December and January a year ago.
Freezing weather cut ice cream
production 22.5 per cent below
that of warm December, to an es-
timated total of 354,00 gallons, or
only 1.8 per cent under January,
1939.
The normal tendency from De-
cember to January, the Bureau’s
report pointed out, is for butter
production to drop 6.3 per cent, for
ice cream and cheese to gain 12.8
per cent and 6.6 per cent respec-
tively.
