Buddings of Ernie Wilson Museum of the Old Was
ABOVE PICTURE shows the entrance to the Main Building,
with Ernie Wilson, Curator of the Museum, standing holding the
steel door. He always invites you to enter and enjoy the exhibits.
He does his best to make you wlcome . The guides are pleasant.
The entrance is the middle
front door in the main building,
the old stone courthouse and jail.
As you go in you are invited to
read the rating of the museum.
Then register and receive a cop-;
of the Museum paper which is
the Buffalo Gap Messenger.
Next you may put into the
strong box your contribution to
the on-going of the museum anc
its activities such as buying :
able relics and items to exhibit.
Many people give items to the
Museum. The museum is oper-
ated for the public good and on
the non-profit basis. This make
contributions necessary to c
on.
Next you turn to the right r
pass by the Historical Med all
in the museum for the building.
As you pass around to the sc
end of the main exhibit room y
will face a door with a sign abovr
it: "The Pioneer Hall of Fame/
As you go through this door
you will get to the front cx
building again and see the stairs
up to the old jail. At the foe
of the stairs are many bulle'
holes in the plaster and walls
which speak to us of the frontie
days when everyone carried a
pistol.
Then upstairs to the jail proper
which houses many fine collec-
tions of guns, artifacts, fossils
and has the Pioneer Hall of Fame
in the large room.
When you come down stairs
you pass along and see the things
you missed in going around.
When leaving the main build-!
ing you are invited to go to the
Marshall's old house. You turn!
right and go into the front door
and notice the old furniture that
belonged to him and his family.
This house was moved from Abi-
lene to save it from destruction.

As you came back by the main
door of the main biuiding you will
see a sign south with the woras
"Art and Music Annex". You
wiii go towards this sign and turn
into the front door of the stone
building and you will see many
fine and priceless antiques in-
cluding pictures and copies of the
famous Russell Western Pictures.
