Old Grass Makes Good Feed
Recently while working with
Louis Nagy on the 711 ranch-
es, it was noted Nagy still had
a good cover of old grass, much
of which was KR bluestem. A
remark was made that the
ranch still has a good cover of
old grass, to which Nagy re-
plied: “Yes, but we will use it
this winter. We have found that
by mixing cottonseed meal, salt
and mineral and feeding it to
our stock during the winter,
they will eat this dry grass and
do good on it. We try to stock
so enough dry grass is left in
the fall to carry our stock thru
the winter. This system has
helped our range too.”
