CAMP STANLEY
WINS SEMI-FINAL
A pitching duel between Dale
Minor of Stanley and Langbein
for Boerne at Camp Stanley
Sunday resulted in t 3 to 2 vic-
tory for Stanley. Dale allowed
5 hits, walked 4, struck out 5,
and hit one with a pitched ball,
while Ltngbein allowed 8 hits,
walked 5 and ,struck out 3. The
only extra base hit of the game
was Villt’s double in the 3rd inn-
ing. Stanley scored 1 in the 1st.
inning on successive singles by
Valdez, Sarabia and Patton. R.
Minor hit into a double play,
Rios wtlked and Sarabia was
out attempting to score when
Rios stole 2nd. Boerne threat-
ened in the 1st and 2nd, leaving
2 stranded in each inning, and
in the 3rd scored their 2 runs
when C. Taylor, first up walked,
stole 2nd, scoring" on Villa’s
double. Theis hit to Patton at
2nd, who fumbled, allowing Villa
to score. Two more double plays
by Boerne held Stanley until the
seventh when with one out, R.
Minor, Jr. walked, went to 2nd
on a wild pitch and scored on
Valdez single. Valdez went to
2nd on Sarabia’s infield out and
scored on Patton’s single to cen-
ter. Villa dropping the throw
from center for an error. Boerne
completed 3 double pltys, one in
the 5th, when with two on, Ter-
yy Gombert raced in to grab
a liner by Sarabia and double
Valdez off 1st base. Both pitch"-
ers hurled excellent games, the
final result being determined by
errors at crucial times. The win
was the 2nd straight off Boerne
tnd the finals will start Sunday
at Fredericksburg between the
Stanley team and the Fredericks
burg Giants, who eliminated He
lotes in two straight. Game time
