Seniors Entertained
The members of the Senior Class
were the honorees at a delightfully
appointed dinner, of which Miss Alex-
ander and Mr. Engle, two of the class
sponsors, were the hostess and host,
on the evening of Thurday, February
2, in the college dining room.
The dinner was served at small ta-
bl£fc which were charmingly docorat-
ed in keeping with the approaching
Valentine season. The centerpiece
of each table was a large red Valen-
tine, and the favors were little Saint
Valentine dolls.
After the dinner the remainder of
the evening was devoted to the play-
ing of the game of hearts. Miss Vel-
ma Power was the high score player
and was presented with a beautiful
heart-shaped box of chocolates.
The menu, which was also in keep-
ing with the Valentine spirit, was as
follows: Leap Year canaoe, eupid ven-
ison, flapper sauce, Iristn love boats,
pickled heart throbs, honeymoon bis-
cuit. kewpie jam, frozen smiles, Venus
cookies, demi tasse.

English Club
The English Club held its regular
bi-monthly meeting on the evening
of Monday, Feb. 6th. After a report
from the secretary on. the financial
status of the clubr "and a brief dis-
cussion of the contest which the club
will conduct in conjunction with tlie

Manning-Thiele Marriage
Miss Nelle Thiele of Austin and
Mr. J. R. Manning were united in car-
riage on Thursday evening, Feb. 2, at
9:15 o’clock, in the home of Rev. and
Mrs. J. M. Garner, with Rev. Garner
officiating. The double ring cere-
mony was very Impressive. Sincerity
and dignity were added to the infor
mal marriage by the assistance of
Miss Eva Manning as the bride’s at-
tendant .and Raymond Manning ns the
attendant of his brother.
Invited guests were Mrs. W. B.
Splawn, Miss Jennie L. Splawn, Ninon
Yeager, Maxine Warren, Mr. W. E.
Sawyer pud Mrs. Garner.
Mrs. Manning is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ed A. Thiele of 809
West 22% street, Austin, Texas. She
is a graduate of Austin High School
and holds the B. S. degree in Home
Economics from the University of
Texas. She studied music in C. I. A.
at Denton a year, and made a further
study of two years in Northwestern
University, Evanston, 111. She is now
directing the Girls Glee Club and the
Girls Choral Club of the University
of Texas, and is studying piano, organ
and voice.
Mr. Manning, of Yoakum, came to
South Texas State Teachers College
as head of the Department of Business
Administration in Ihe fall of 1925. He
holds the M. A. degree from the^Uni-
versity of Texas. It was in the Uni-
versity that he first met Nelle Thielde
a freshmun girl striving to solve a
difficult problem in college math.
Mr. and Mrs. Manning were honor-
ed witli a delightful wedding break-
fast in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee
Reader on Friday morning, a luncheon
with Mrs. Splawn at 12, and a formal
dinner with Mrs. Adair at the College
Inn at 6:30 in the evening. The table
was attractively decorated for the
occasion with cut flowers. Places were
laid for the guests of the wedding

Dance at K. C. Hall
Another of the series of dances giv-
en in the K. C. Hall was an event of
Friday evening, when a group of the
young girls entertained. A clever
use of the Valentine decorative motif
was effected. Music was furnished
by the Moonlight Serenaders. Punch
was served as refreshment.
The personnel of the dance was
Misses Vivian Erard, Virginia Wright,
Annette Fromme, Gertrude Bodin,
Gesie Glenn Dennett. Virginia Martin.

Smith. Mary Grace Barnett, Eunice

pitt, Frank Moss Barnett, Rudy Flato,
Joseph Robertson. Robert Raiford,
Clifford Jones and Doyle Ware.
Chaperones were Mesdames E. B.
Erard, Fritz Fromme and W. T.
Mathis.
Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Fritz
Fromme on East Kenedy. Mrs. H. C.
Dennett received the club prize for
high score. A dainty salad course,
coffee and tea were served by the
hostesses.

The S. S. Bridge Club met Tuesday
in the home of Mrs, C. M Sublett.
Mrs. W. J. Waldrit, of Hope, Ark.,
ister of the hostess, was a guest of
the club. Mrs. Gus Kowalki received
the high core prize.

Leap Year Valentine Parky
A most interesting party was given
last Monday evening for the members
of the Senior League, the peo-
ple’s and the cotf^rf'Sunday school
classes tn the basement of the Meth-
odist church. The king and queen of
hearts greeted the guests as they ar-
rived and helped with the games in
various ways. Fortunes, love letters,
proposals and weddings filled the ev-
ening’s program.
Miss Lorena Yates had the distinc-
or nearts during the evening.
Delicious punch, with heart and
star shaped cakes, were served dur-
ing the evening to about 55 guests.
Valentine boys and girls were given
as plate favors.

Jenkins-Banner Marriage
The marriage of Miss Nellie Jeff
Banner and John Tom Jenkins was
solemnized in the Catholic rectory on
Wednesday evening at 7:30 o’clock,
Rev. Father Dan Lanning officiating.
This date for the wedding had been
chosenjn, honor of the birthday anni-
versary of the bride’s grandfather.
P. A. Horan. Mr. and Mrs. John D.
Fiiyiegan stood up with the couple
during the simple, Impressive cere-
mony.
After the ceremony a delicious Mex-
ican supper was served to the bridal
party and the guests in the home of
the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. B.
Dodd. Those present were Mr. and
