BUSINESS BRIEFS
Local firm hosts Cf A seminar
CLEVELAND — Sept. 20
Jack T. Watson, the Cleveland
Edward D. Jones & Co. invest-
ment representative, par-
ticipated in hosting one of the
largest ever continuing
education seminars for CPAs.
Broadcast simultaneously from
the firm’s St. Louis, Mo., head-
quarters and Washington, D.C.,
to the more than 1,500 Edward
D. Jones offices nationwide, the
seminar reached an audience of
nearly 12,000 CPAs.
“Not only has space-age
satellite technology allowed us
to improve service to our
clients, but it’s helping us meet
the needs of area Cpks and
other local professionals,” Wat-
son said.
All CPAs must met minimum
annual continuing education re-
quirements to retain their cer-
tification, and Edward D. Jones
& Co. is one of the few local
resources for area CPAs to earn
their continuing education
credits. The firm has been of-
fering this service for six years;
however, this is the first time
one seminar has been conduc-
ted live for all branches at once.
The seminar was interactive
and allowed guests in the
Cleveland branch office to ask
questions directly of the guest
speakers in St. Louis and Wash-
ington. The featured speakers
were Mark McConaghy,
managing partner of Washing-
ton National TAx Services for
Price Waterhouse, and Carol
Caruthers, partner-in-charge of
Personal Financial Services
Practice for the St. Louis and
Central region of Price Waterh-
ouse.
In addition to frequent
seminars, Watson also offers a
series of tor-credit videotapes
that are available for local CPAs
and attorneys to view at their
convenience.
