RESERVISTS IN CAMP
North Fort Hood, Tex. — A-
mong the more than 8000 men
of the 90th Infantry Division
encamped here in a one-square-
mile ten city for two weeks of
annual active duty training are
units of Company C, 3rd Bat-
talion, 15th Armor from Boerne.
In 15 days of field training
these men will get a taste of al-
most every facet of Army life
from KP to battlefield maneu-
vers.
The first of 40,000 troops who
will train here this summer, the
men of these units arrived here
last Saturday aboard bus and
truck convoys. More than 50
cities are represented at this
summer camp.
Mrs. H. Leo Tucker has re-
turned to Boeme to join her
husband in their home here.
She has spent the past school
year in Fort Stockton taking
care of her elderly mother. Mr.
and Mrs. Tucker moved here last
summer from Weslaco and live
on Ranger Creek Road.
Weekend visitors in the Den-
nis Norris home were Mr. and
Mrs. Raymond Meyer from
Floresville, Texas.

BOERNE READING CLUB
The annual guest day of the
Boerne Reading Club was held
May 28 at the charming country
home of Mrs. Rae Easley with
Mrs. Easley, Mrs. Jack Davis
and Mrs. C. G. Newton as hos-
tesses.
The meeting was held under
the trees on the front lawn. The
Chaplain, Mrs. H. V. Steel led
the group in prayer. Mrs. New-
ton, president greeted the mem-
bers and guests and Mrs. Sam
Woolford introduced the speak-
er, Mrs. E. P. Arneson of San
Antonio. For fifteen years, Mrs.
Arneson had had a winter se-
ries at the Menger Hotel and
during the summer at the San
Antonio Country Club, in ad-
dition to many other events
where she presents her notable
reviews of plays which she has
seen in New York.
Mrs. Arneson reviewed “Mr.
President” Irving Berlin’s mu-
sical about a family as it quits
the White House.
After the program, Mrs. New-
ton turned the gavel over to the
incoming president, Mrs. Easley_
ATTEND VETERANS
HOSPITAL MEETING
A local group attended a meet
ing in Kerrville on Thursday in
the interest of the Veterans
Hospital located at Legion,
Texas.
Senator Ralph Yarborough
was the main speaker and as-
sured the delegates that V. A.
Hospital at Legion would not be
closed, as had been rumored.
Representing Veteran s of
World War I were Joe Ammann
—Maurice Lehmann represented
the American Legion. Judge Jim
Campbell was a delegate from
Veterans of Foreign Wars. Oth-
ers who attended were Judge
John MerreL Bob Myers, Hugo
Zoeller, Hilmar Scheele and Bill
Strube.
CO-HOSTESS AT SHOWER
Mrs. R. H. Toepperwein, Boer-
ne and Mrs. Marion Toepper-
wein, San Antonio were co-hos-
tess at the latter’s home of a
Miscellaneous Shower Saturday
night for Mary Jane Knutson,
bride-to-be of Bobby Alexander
of Kyle, a nephew of Mrs. R. H.
Toepperwein.
The wedding is to be June 22.
Bobby is a 1961 graduate of A
& M. Mary Jane is attending
Southwest College at San Mar-
cos.
Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Coussons
and son Lawrence of Blythe,
Calif., and Mrs. August Phillip
of El Paso, Texas, arrived Tues-
day and are guests of Mrs. W.
H. Krause and other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kemp
and children of Kingsville are
guests in the home of his moth-
er, Mrs. Rose Kemp.
Mrs. Evelyn Gourley spent a
week with the Jimmie Gourley
family in Houston. They accom-
panied her to Boerne and are
spending a week with the Ar-
thur Pfeiffer family.
Mr. and Mrs. LeBron Hardie
visited here on Monday with
Mr. and Mrs. John King. They
were enroute from Austin to
their home in El Paso.
