READ THIS
January or Janus means an
open door or gate to new oppor-
tunities ; flower carnation, stone
garnet; first anniversary paper.
Its a new year with fresh begin-
nings; another chance; courage
without fear. Looking forward
to new things; to read more
making life more interesting;
more rewarding. Perhaps new
ideas and development of them
will be yours; give a little more
kindness; more flowers; more
smiles. A journey through these
twelve months begins with a
single step; leam as if you were
to live forever; live as if you
were to die tomorrow. Time to
read, in the beginning the heav-
en and earth was created. Gen-
esis 1-1.

COMFORT LIONS HEAR
DISTRICT JUDGE
At their last regular meeting
the Comfort Lions Club heard
an address by District Judge
Marvin Blackburn, Jr. of Junc-
tion. Speaking on the subject
“I Woke Up in a New World”,
Judge Blackburn discussed the
far reaching effect automation
is having on our lives, regard-
less of where we live. He empha-
sized the importance of the re-
training efforts of the Federal
Government to help those who
have been replaced by automa-
tion find new employment. He
also brought out that we have
just begun to feel the impact of
such change and that we must
make every effort to adjust to
the consequences.
In other business, the Lions
heard a report on the newly es-
tablished Hubert Heinen Schol-
arship Fund, which was made
possible by Erwin Heinen hon-
oring his father, a member of
the Comfort Lions Club. The
Committee appointed by Presi-
dent Arthur Vadnais reported
they had met with Superintend-
ent Hans Bergner and that ap-
plications for the scholarship
would be received by Mr. Berg-
ner.
