A reception honoring Mrs
Lucille Summers on the
occasion of her HO birthday was
held Sunday, March 30, at the
home of her son-in-law and
daughter. Mr and Mrs Hoy
Lindsey
Mrs Summers' birthday is
officially April 16, however,
she will be in Dallas at that
time necessitating the early
celebration
Mrs Summers was born
April 16, 1890, in Dadeville. Mo
She moved to Texas with her
family in 1014 She was
married to Edward Summers
in 1910. and they moved to the
Corpus Christ! area in 1034
They had two daughters
Mrs Dorisgene Lindsey and
Mrs Manon Putman of Dallas
Mrs Summers has made her
home in Portland for the |iast
10 years at 133 Sabine, and is a
member of longstanding of the
Church of Christ
The serving table was c-
entered with an arrangement
of pink silk rosebuds and
baby's breath with a large
tiered strawberry heart-
shaped cake and strawberry
slush punch
Dorothy Dobbs assisted the
hostess in serving the cake and
Sara Bingenheimer served the
punch
Approximately 40 guests
attended during the afternoon
to honor Mrs Summers

The bride is the daughter of
Mrs E B McBurnett Jr and
the late E B McBurnett Jr ,
and the groom is the son of Mr
and Mrs Jack T Currie of
Alice
The house was decorated
with candelabra entwined with
garlands of ivy and daisies
The bride chose a gown of
organza and Venice lace The
empire bodice was designed
with a sheer yoke of organza
below a wedding ring collar of
Venice lace This lace framed
the sheer yoke, encircled the
waist line and trimmed the
lantern sleeves The bride's A-
llne skirt fell to a wide hemline
flounce at slipper length which
was accented with lace and
swept around chapel train fhe
bride's picture hat was
trimmed with matching lace
and a veil of illusion was
attached to the back
She carried a nosegay of
white roses and daisies
accented with white lace and
bows
Miss Melissa McBurnett
served her sister as maid of
honor
Her dress was of floor length
yellow crepe with a flared skirt
and matching jacket She
carried a nosegay of daisies
highlighted with white ribbons
Michael Currie served his
brother as best man
The groom and best man
wore brown tuxedoes The
groom wore a rosebud
