D HKOSH RECALLED
MN husband Jim and i visited Oshkosh for the first time this ear.
This was a memorable experience to say the least. Jim saw eleven airplanes
he Clew in WW II from the SBD to the B-I 7. A BT-13 was parked next to
our WASP tent. It made us feel at home.
The WASP tent (our store) was a great place to meet old Kctnds and make
n1ew ones. Shutsy is outstanding in providing stores with such mneat'
merchandise to sell. Authors of WASP books were busy autographing and
chatting with admirers of our group. Ethel Finley does us such a service to
arrange delightful accommodations at the Jesuit Retreat House next to Lake
Winnebago. Thanks Ethel it was a great experience! Marjory & Jim Munn

just a note to thank you and the WASPs for the raffle shirt
from Oshkosh. It arrived safely along with the copy of "On
Final Approach." The book is great! Also want to say that I
really pappreciate the chance to meet and talk with the WASP
each year at the air show. Its quite a thrill to talk, listen
and watch people interact in the WASP Tent. We are grateful
for what you did and aplaud your efforts to inform and inspire
young and not so young people.
Thank you doesn't seem like enough gut THANK YOU.COLLEGE PARK, MARYLAND AIR SHOW
The historic airport at College Park, Maryland celebrated its 90 years
of continuous operation on September 25 and 26, 1999 with an airshow and the
WASPs were there. Shutsy was there with her stores and was assisted by Lois
Sibenik (a Friend of the WASPs) and Elaine Harmon both days. On Saturday,
Toby Felker assisted and on Sunday Ann Darr helped.
This airport has been declared an historic site because of the
numerous firsts that occurred , one of which was the first airmail flights. The Post
Office Department celebrated this fact by cancelling envelopes with a special
cancellation stamp commemorating the event.
If you are ever in the Washington area, visit the new museuam and
find out about all the firsts that occurred in College Park in the early days of
aviation. It is accessible by the Metrorail Green Line. it is, however, a three or
four block walk to the museum from the Metro stop.
