It was a eomoletely reluvenated
Falfurrias Jersey football machine
which smartly defeated the fast
Ben Bolt eleven 13 to 0 here last
Fridav night. Unquestionably. the
visitors offered the Falfurrias team
the classiest opposition they have
faced here thl* year.
The game from start to finish
was a touch-and-go affair, with
the fast Ben Bolt backs offering n
constant scoring threat which in '
several instances was almost fui- |
filled. However, the Jersevs in suite '
of weight inferiority, out-pointed
their opponents in both offense and
defense.
Indicating the tempo of.the game
is a comparison of the yardage
gained on running plays. The Jer-
cevs totaled 127 cards while Ben
Bou followed closely with. 102 vards.
Hleh’ight of the Jersey offense
was stocky Clarence Bone, a line-
man transplanted to the backfield,
who played his first game in that
position Fridav night. How well he
played the position is attested bv
the twelve points he rang up on the
scoreboard.
The first counter came in the
second period and was followed bv
another in the fourth quarter. Ted
Porter, playing his best game of
the season, drop-kicked the extra
point. Also very much in evidence
were Dick Honner, Santos Gonza-
iez. Raui Trevino, Adolfo Mungia
and Mike Wright, who captained
the Jerseys;
The game was wide open and of-
fered local fans some real excite-
ment. exampled by a pass from a
Bf,n Bolt bark which was intercept -
cd bv Gonzalez of Falfurrias. The
ball was run back twenty yards, on-
ly to be lost on a fumble following
a hard tackle. Hopper, Jersey cen-
ter. also intercepted a pass and a-
galn Falfurrias lost the ball on a
fumble on the following nlay.
The Jersevs went into the game
without Dale Maun and Ear! Hise
who remained on the sidelines as
the result, of inluries.
