Beach Hargis Goes For Life.
Irvine, Ky., Aprils.—The jury
in the case of Beach Hargis,
charged with the murder of his
father Judge James Hargis,
brought in a verdict of guilty and
which gave defendant a life sent-
ence. The trial has taken up
several days, during which time
the argument on both sides was
extremely hot and at times per-
sonal to a marked degree. Har-
gis took the verdict coolly. A
motion for new trial will be argu-
ed in a few days, and if this is
denied,.the case will be appeal-
ed.

We come today to remember our
honored dead. Not alone those
who wore the gray', but also the
Northern soldier, o’er whose
grave the violets blow, for they
fought for what they deemed
the right:. Columns of marble
mark the resting places o2 the
great leaders in battle, but in
the heart of the people of the
Southland are found the only
memorial of the dead soldier.
But let me assure you that in the
hearts of the Sons and Daughters
of the Confederacy there lingers
a spark.of love that will ever
keep green the memory of our
noble fathers who were soldiers
not only of battle, but also of
duty. And as we place these
flowers upon their graves our
hearts are fllied with love which
tir^3 only serves to deepen. Now
