ian College Concert Choir has
received and accepted an invita-
tion to attend aind participate m
the World Convention of the Ch-
urches of Christ to (be held in
Honolulu, Hawaii, July 15-21,
1980..
The World Convention is a
Christian Fellowship of all Ch-
urches of Christ in 34 countries.
It normally meets every four
or five years. The purpose of the
W.C.C.C. is to show the essent-
ial oneness of the Church in the
Lord Jsus Christ; impart inspir-
ation to the world brotherhood;
cultivate the spirit of fellowship,
promote unity among the chur-
ches; and to cooperate with
Christians everywhere toward

The Jarvis Christian College
Concrt Choir will present a mus-
ical program at the Convention
in addition to being a part of a
500-voice mass choir. The cost
for each member of the Concert
Choir is $975. This price includ-
es a seven - day tour, round -
trip fare from Dallas, Texas, to
Honolulu, Hawaii, hotel and me-
al expenses, and a half - day
tour of the state of Hawaii.
Sponsors are needed for each
of the 37 Jarvis students who
are members of the Choir to
Mp defray their costs. Contri-
butions may be given by groups,
clubs, organizations, churches,
and individuals. Contributions
should be mailed by April 1st
to:-The Honolulu Choir Fund, in
care of the Reverend Jesse J.
Hawkins, Coordinator, Depart-
ment of Public and College Re-
lations, Jarvis Christian College,
Hawkins, Texas 75765. All do-
nations are tax deductable.

William Bradley
** Funeral services for Mr. Wil-
liam Bradley were held April
12, 1»80 at Hopewell C.M.E. Ch-
tirch at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. T.
El Wadley, Pastor, and Rever-
end Woodrow Jones officiating.
Mr. William Bradley was bom
to Mr. R. iS. Bradley and Mrs.
Katie Moss Bradley, June 19,
1913 in Smith County, Texas.
He attended Emmett Scott
High School and Texas College,
both in Tyler, Texas.
Mr. Bradley departed this life
Monday, April 7, 1930 at 7:00
p.m. He leaves to cherish his
memory: his mother, Mrs. Kat-
ie Bradley Cole, Tyler; one bro-
ther, Mr. Robert Bradley, Ty-
ler; two sisters, Miss Gladys
Bradley, Dallas; Dr. Lillian K.
Bradley, Tyler; three aunts,
Mrs. Johnnie Moss asd Daisy
Starr, Tyler; asd Stella Moss,
Arp; a host of cousins, other rel-
atives and friends.
Active pallbearers were Clem-
ie Ford, Dessie Ford Jr., Tom
McClain, Elmer Ricks, J.S.
Warren, and Chester Wingfield.
(Honorary pallbearers were
Masonic Lodge No. 212. Harry
Adaims, Jessie Gaines, L. K.
Mosley, William: Wallace, Virgil
Moss Burnett Riley, George Tuc-
ker, John Williams.
Interment was at Hopewell at
Overton, Texas under direction
of Brooks - Sterling Funeral
Home of Tyler.

4 Awards At
Austin Contest
The Communications Depart-
ment of the Tyler Independent
School District recently receiv-
ed four awards from the Texas
School Public Relations Associa-
tion at the Publications and Me-
dia Contest in Austin.
Cited for the Award of Excel-
lence was the District’s external
newsletter, “Inside TISD”, and
a news story highlighting the
gifted program. The Award of
Merit wajs -presented to the de-
partmeht for the brochure “Ty-
ler Independent School District
Statistics”, and for a slide-tape
presentation featuring the gifted
program. '
Seven TISD publications and
one media entry were submitted
to the contest. This marks the
first year TISD has submitted
entries for critique.
