sea turtles. With the help of a
few stranded sea turtles the vol-
unteers dream came true. In the
summer of 1997 an outdoor
rehab area was developed and
opened. The original area
housed three turtles named
Huffy, Karen and Cory, all of
which were later released.
In October 1997, the volun-
teers moved into a 900 square
foot facility which is where they
continue to aid to sick sea tur-
tles today.
The rehab center is run by
Jean Beasley and a team of vol-
unteers and interns. The group
is a nonprofit organization that
receives no state or federal
funding. Donations received are
sent directly to aid with food
medical supplies and operating
costs of the hospital.
