"The word has gotten out about Topsail
Island, and now that we have been discov-
ered, the place is booming," Brown said.
The overall demand for housing in the
Topsail area is great news to those who
want to sell. According to Brown, those that
are selling are getting within five-percent of
their asking price because of the demand.
"There are so many people looking for
homes in the area that sellers are getting
full price for their homes, if not more,"
Brown said.
Many people are purchasing new con-
struction homes, while others are buying
older homes. There are even people who
are buying homes just because of the land
they are on.
"Many people are buying old homes so
they can tear them down and build the
house they really want on that same land,"
Brown said.
Although commercial real estate has been
fairly quiet in the past, it is beginning to blos-
som all over the area. There has also been a
strong growth in the numbers entering the
market as homeowners are made aware of
the potential and value of their land.
According to Brown the market is the
best it has been in history due to the
steady growth over the past few years.
She accredits the strength of the market to
the discovery of the island to both season-
al and year-round residents.
"You used to never hear about Topsail
Island, and now you see Topsail Island
bumper stickers on cars everywhere,"
Brown said.
