ternoon, July 22, at Camp Tahu-
aya, six miles south of Belton.
This will be our Pack meeting
for July.
The cub scouts can have fu\
in the new swimming pool and
can see the boy scouts camp.
Cubs will have use of the pool
from 1 = 30 to 3:00 p. m.
The district swim carnival
for Scouts and Explorers will be
the fun program for the after-
noon. Cub Scouts for Pack

ing with you for their fun

Little Nancy Smith, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith,
had a very painful accident this
week when she stepped on a
needle. She was carried to the
hospital and the needle was re-
moved.
Attending Edna Johnson’s
wedding last Sunday in Valley
Mills from McGregor were Mrs.
Paul Johnson and sons, W. C.
and Paul, Mrs. E. H. Duncan
and children, Sandra Lee and
Karen Sue, Mrs. Shotwell and

Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Westerfield
received word from their son
Frank B. Westerfield this week
stating that he was awarded
a purple heart, also was given
a promotion from a Pfc. to that
of Corporal. He said further,
that he had fully recovered
from his recent wound of June
9th, and had hopes of seeing all
his friends back home this fall.

Sherrill came to McGregor j
over three years ago and was i
superintendent of the Western j
Stove Co. He severed his con-'
nection with the company which
took effect.on the 15th of this
month. He returns to Califor-
nia to resume his duties as head
of an enameling plant, of which
he ownes, and left when he came
to McGregor with Western
Stove Co.
The Sherrills’ have made a
host of good friends during
their stay in McGregor, and
these friends will regret to hear
of their leaving. They were
active in church, civic and so-
cial affairs and Mr. Sherrill was
president of the Rotary Club
at the present time.
T. J. McLEOD °DIES
AT HILLSBORO HOME
Funeral services were held in
Hillsboro Wednesday for Mr. T.
J. McLeod, former resident of
McGregor.
Born in Mississippi, he came
to Texas at the age of 19 and
settled at Abbott. He married
Miss Letita Mahaffey in 1921,
and after residing in Hillsboro
for a short while, moved to Mc-
Gregor, returning to Hillsboro
in 1948. He was a member of the
Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife;
two sisters, Mrs. E. B. Dawson
and Mrs. Jane Patenotte, both
of Abbott; and two children,
Tom McLeod of Corpus Christi,
and Mrs. Ed Fosmire of Mission,
Texas.
Burial was in the Ridge Park
Cemetery in Hillsboro.

DANCING SCHOOL HERE
Registration of all McGregor
children interested in ballet, tap,
toe and acrobatic' dancing will
be held Tuesday between, the
hours of 9:30 and 12:30 in
the banquet room of the Delite
Cafe, Mrs. Rita Craven, a danc-
ing teacher from Waco, an-
nounced this week.
Mrs. Craven, who is now con-
ducting classes in Waco and
Hillsboro, is planning to open a
one-day-a-week school here.

Seeking to render an addi-
tional service to McGregor mer-
chants and citizens, the Chamber
of Commerce this week announc-
es that it will begin to handle
employment On a small scale.
Any unemployed person is in-
vited to register with the Cham-
ber office concerning the type
jobs he could fill. The office
will keep these names on file
and at any time a merchant
needs an additional employee,
he may contact the office and
obtain the names of persons who
could possibly fill the need.
