At the first meeting on Thurs-
| day, Mr. Norris took charge and
I explained to the eighty-six per-
jsons assembled the purposes and
treasons for the * new club He-
Mid that he felt that learning
more about the forces- that
threaten .the United States is an
important part of our education.
Being careful to say that the
new" club would not be a social
■one but .rffore of a study club,
Me—-Norris explained that all
new members would be expected
to read and to take parts on
programs from time to time.
He opened the floor for nomi-
nations for the club officers with
Harold f’erkins. President of the
Student Council and Student
Body taking charge. The follow-
ing officers wp’re elected: chair-
man. Lewis Rambo; vide-chalr-
man.—John Oaton;—secretary-
treasurer, Phyllis Swindle; and
reporter, Ruth Cattles.
It was decided that the vice-
chairman-would be In charge of
programs. John Coton chose the
following committee to assist
him Tom Brlghtman, Harold
Perkins, and Kay Burton.
The new chairman and the
sponsors all expressed their de-
sire to have an effective Heritage
Club. They said they all felt It
would be a good opportunity to
learn more about the danger# of
communism.
