THE GOAT JOURNAL
Mr. H. G. Perry7
Editor Junction Eagle,
Junction, Texas.
Dear Mr. Perry:
It may interest you to be
able to tell your readers that
prospects for mohair are im-
proved. You mig»tv sum it up
in this way:
Anatolian \V«r Reduces Turk-1
Ish Mohair Supply.
The growers of mohair will
be interested in knowing tihal I
supplies of Turkish mohair
have been limited, and almosi
removed from the market,
consequent upon destruction oi
large numbers of Angoria
goats in Asia Minor. Activity ]
of the war was in ihe midst of
the chief Angoria growing sec-
tion of Turkey in Asia Minor.
In one district alone 40,0001
Angoras won slaughtered for
food by tthe contending armies.
Very little mohair is coining
to Stamboul and Constant!-j
nople. Production in the Cape ;
Provinces, in South Africa, has J
i been reduced by drouth and the
| imports to Great Britian show
i decrease. Following that situ-

[quantities have boon re-export-
ed from Bradford, England, to
Amerjca—much loss th m in re-
cent years, pre-war. In 1920
out of 11,000,000 pounds sent to

of 1921 totaled 15,000,000
pounds to Great Britian and
only about 1 000,000 pounds
was re-exported.
lTso of mohair in textiles is
increasing in the United States,
and while prices lor 1922 may
not go above It) cents a’l
around for mohair, even that
figure will do much to restore
