byb FIELD NEWS OF PAST WEEK
l pr^s
Operations are almost at a stand-
still throughout the various producing
SectioiwPctf the Panhandle field, due
p^jpcipHly ;to the fact that the differ
'
'TSfir producing companies have all the
production that they have a market
for. The production of the North
Texas producing area, together
withj&e territory that constitutes
wh^SR known as the Mid-Continent,
is rapidly becoming a serious problem.
There is hardly any possibility of this
section increasing or adding to the se-
riousness, of the present situation, as
there is a noticeable decrease in the
production each week. The congested
conditions of the three states has a
tendency to diminish operations. How-
ever, within a few months to come,
when the congestion, has been ^relieved,
the Texas, Panhandle again will re-
sume its place in the very active list.
The producing companies, also indi-
vidual operators, are beginning to take
notice of the storm signals displayed
by the pipe-line companies some time
ago. The co-operation of the individ-
ual producers and the'pipe-line com-
panies is the only solution to the pres-
ent situation. Until the vast amount
of oil in storage is disposed of, drilling
or development work will proceed at a
cautious rate.
On April 13 a drop of 10 cents was
posted in the price of Electra, Henri-.
J etta and Corsicana light oils, causing
a gloomy feeling to pervade the Pan-
handle, although it was not unexpected
as three drops in the price of the’ oil
in the Oklahoma-Kansas fields have
kept the Texas operators on the anx-
ious seat. The heavy crude'at Corsi-
cana was- also reduced 10 cents, mak-
ing the present quotation for. the
heavy grade 60 cents and the light
grade 95 cents. This is the first mar-
ket change in the light oils since July
24, when the market advanced 5 cents.
Electra Pool.
The Electra pool does not show the
animated appearanre of a few months
Itgo. Although there is considerable
activity, nothing out of the ordinary
has transpired to create any unusual
interest, small wells being the princi-
pal results obtained. The pool is
showing less new production and a
large number of dry holes, but thetde-
crease in new work is the ‘greatest
for over a year. Only 46 rigs were
running on April 12, with 11 rigs up
and five shut down. During the past
week eight wells were completed, of
which six were producers and two
were dry holes. The new production
amounted to 610 barrels, or a decrease
of 180 barrels, when compared with
the previous week’s figures of 790
barrels. The largest completion of
the week was the Corsicana Petrole-
um Co.’s No. 37 S. E. Honaker farm,
which is producing at the rate of 210
barrels a day. The top of the pay
was encountered at 1,509 feet and the
bottom at 1,534 feet. The same com-
pany got a small producer in No. 39
on the same tract, good for 50 bar-
rels at a depth of 1,168 feet with 17
feet of pay, or a total depth of 1,185
feet. The Producers Oil Co. complet-
ed No. 60 Waggoner and it is a 40-
barrel pumper at a depth of 1,960 feet.
The Red River Oil Co.’s No. 45 By-
waters lease is good for 150 barrels a
day. The top of the pay was found
at 1,554 feet and the drilling stopped
at 1,576 feet. The J. M. Guffey Pe-
troleum Co. has a 40-barrel pumper in
No. 35 Miller tract at a depth of 1,503
feet with 29 feet of pay, making the
total depth of the hole 1,532 feet
The Corsicana Petroleum Co. drilled
in and completed its test on the F. W.
Warner tract as dry at a depth of
2,175 feet, as did the Producers Oil Co.
in No. 19 on the Allen tract at a depth
of 2,177 feet.
The Producers Oil Co. leads in drill-
ing operations in the Electra pool,
having 24 rigs running and five new
locations made, followed by tAe Corsi-
cana Petroleum Co. with nine rigs run-
ning arid five rigs up. The Red River
.Oil Co. has a couple of riga running
and the J. M.. Guffey Petroleum Co.
is drilling three wells. The^ Forest;
