LOMETA AND LAMPASAS TO
PLAY HERE NEXT FRIDAY
The Lometa-Lampasas football
game, originally scheduled to be play-
ed in Lometa next Friday afternon,
will be played on the local field Fri-
day night, Oct. 11. The athletic offi-
cials here have been trying for some
time to make a deal with Lometa of-
ficials and finally succeeded Friday
morning. That will be the opening
conference game for both teams and
should draw a capacity crowd.
According to Principal John Rown-
tree, season tickets will not be good
for the Lometa game. The season
tickets were sold only for the six reg-
ularly scheduled home games and any
other home games added to the
schedule were not to be included.

Mistaking his son for a squirrel,
J. M. Kinman, fired his shotgun into
a pecan tree, seriously wounding the
boy, late Thursday afternoon.
The accident occurred near the Kin-
man home, five miles west of Elam.
Don Kinman, 14, had climbed the tree
in search of nuts. His father saw
movement among the foliage, thought
it one of the numerous squirrels which
inhabit the area, and fired.
The boy fell from the branch on
which he was sitting, but his cloth-
ing caught. Mr. Kinman climbed the
tree, brought the lad down in his
arms, and sent a neighbor’s child on
foot into Elam to summon help.
Further delay in securing medical
aid was experienced when an am-
bulance ran five miles past the scene
because of improper directions.
At Parkland Hospital physicians
probed numerous wounds in the lad’s
body where No. 6 shot had struck
him. Some of the charge had en-
tered his face, some his neck and
chest, and several' his body. His in-
juries were considered serious, but
early examinations did not show
whether they, were critical.
