Saturday, October 22, and if you can't make that, how about going
down to Henderson, Texas on October 23 to run at Oak Hill Raceway.
This event will be sponsored by the Lone Star Region, and should
be a super event. Just ask anyone who's been there. The grand
finale for October will be the traditional Fall Tour to Eureka
Springs, Arkansas on October 28, 29 and 30. This is a challenging
event in that you will spend a good part of the weekend "in the
saddle." More than half the fun is getting there, and there are
few places as charming as Eureka Springs during that time of year.
Besides the sense of accomplishment at having traveled 1100 miles
in 2-1/4 days, you can enjoy the sights along the way or just
watch (your rearview?) as 10 to 15 Porsches overtake a "pick-'em-up"
truck on a winding road. For those not so equipped, a CB radio
is strongly recommended. Our Accessory Salesman, Bob Pinkston,
has a good selection of these two-way radios available. See him
at the October meeting.
In November, the pace slackens somewhat. Lone Star Region
has planned a two-day Porsche-Corvette Challenge at Texas World
Speedway, at Bryan-College Station, November 18, 19, and 20. You
should be hearing about this in a special mailing. Please refer
to the accompanying article. This event will offer entrants an
opportunity to run at speed on a true road race course and should
prove most interesting as Corvette enthusiasts will set up the
course one day followed by a Porsche pushers' course the next day.
Of course, for PCA-MR, November means the Founder's Day
Banquet, otherwise known as the Annual Meeting. Elections will be
held for the office of President, Vice President, Secretary and
Treasurer. Yes, we do need nominations. If you know of someone
that you feel would serve PCA-MR in any of these capacities, fill
out the nomination form in this issue. Please be sure to check
with each candidate to obtain his or her permission; then persuade
two other members to sign the form. Nominations are due by the
October meeting.
The Christmas party in December will wind up the year. Our
raffle fund will be used to stock up on liquid refreshment and
assorted munchies, not to mention a case of stuff left over from
last year. All we need now is a host! Will someone volunteer?
We were very happy to see Bob Brittain at the September meeting.
Inez Wilson is still recuperating after a stay at Baylor Medical
