OCTOBER TOUR/MEETING
The October meeting will be something very different for PCA.
We will launch the meeting with a tour of the General Motors Plant
in Arlington. It should be quite interesting to eyewitness the
making of an American car. Those who have seen films of the making
of a Porsche -- or been fortunate enough to have personally toured
the German factory -- will no doubt be busy making mental comparisons.
The tour will surely give us a better basis for understanding price
as well as craftsmanship differences.
The club will convene in the GM Plant's East Parking Lot (off
Abram's Rd.) at 6;30 p.m. on Friday, October 8 for the tour. The
plant is located on the corner of Abram's at Hwy 360. Following the
tour, we will reconvene at our usual location at approximately 8 p.m.
for dinner and a business meeting, including the collection of nom-
inations for 1977 club officers. The "usual" location is, of course,
the Western Hills Inn in Euless, which is situated on the corner of
FM 157 and Hwy 183.
THE GREAT ALLIANCE WEEKEND
Jeremy Wood, Lone Star Region
Lone Star Region PCA and Houston MG Car Club jointly present a
weekend of rally and autocross on October 23 and 24.
The rally will be about 3 hours long, and of the gimmick variety.
Included in this event will be a "Mini Concours" where the most pop-
ular (clean, etc., etc.) entrant in the rally will be announced (etc.,
etc.).
The autocross will be held at Montgomery County Airport, located
in Conroe, Texas (about 45 miles north of Houston on I45). This is
a large facility with all the amenities. Two concurrent courses are
planned, one short and one long. The Lone Star Region has used this
course previously in 1976 and it proved very satisfactory.10.
