the 'getting. Cameras wen sent from
studios and set up during the
New iork games, and William
Haines, hero of the story, donned
Yankee uniform and appeared with
the New Yorkers against the St.
Louis Cardinals, for the intimate
scenes in the picture. .. . *
Thp new production, biggest base
ball picture in history, is an intimate
tale of life with a major league
teagt, with Haines in the role of hero
Sally O'Neal, Karl Dane, Harry
Carey, Warner Richmond, Junior
Coghland, Eileen Sedgwick, r- and
other opted players. Also some of
the most famous baseball players in
America make their screen debate in
the picture; such men as Bob Meu-
aeT" ami ‘‘Irish’’ Meuse! and Toney
Latzert of tlw Yankees, Mike Dohlin,
world’s greatest hitter and for years
idol of the New York Giants, and
others of note.
The story deals with the adven-
tures of a “bush league” player,
Kelly (played by Haines), who
makes this New York team, becomes
a star, gets “swelled headed” and
has all the troubles a player would
have under such circumstanoss,
while traveling with a team of prof-
essional ball players. Harry Carey,
famous Western star, and once
catcher for Ncvj York University,
pla^s the veteran catcher, “Kelly's”
teacher, in the picture.
The crucial plays of the World
Series form dramatic highlights for
the new picture.
