Stock Show Slated
Saturday in Melvin
The 14th annual Melvin Fat
Stock Show will be held Saturday
on the Melvin square, with H. M.
McElroy, vocational agriculture
teacher from Eden, us tbe judge.
I Judging begins at 1 p. m., but
boys are asked to have all animais
on the grounds by 11:110 a. m. The
show is open to all Melvin I* I' A
and 4-H Club members. !
The Melvin Lions Club will
award trophies to the boys show-
ing the grand champion calf and
lamb, and Nathan’s Jewelers bus
a rotating trophy that will go also
to the owner of the grand chunr-
pion lamb. To take permanent pos-
session, a feeder must win it three
times.

Dunbar to Be Host
In Tourney Saturday
Dunbar High School will be host
Saturday at nn invitational bas-
ketball tournament to be held in
the Brady High gym.
First-round play gets started
Saturday morning at Id o'clock,
and the finals are scheduled for
Saturday night at 8 o clock.
Eight boys teams are entered:
Hardin High School and a Com-
munity Center team from Brown-
wood. Blackshear of San Angelo,
Coleman. Boys Club and YMCA of
San Antonio. Del Rio, and the
host, Dunbar.
Alonzo Reed, Dunbar principal
and director of the tournament,
raid the brackets will be complet-
ed after a drawing Saturday
morning. The official will com
from the Brady A-sociation.
Reed also has planned a girls
division, but only two teams, Cole-
man and Dunbar, were definitely
entered this week.
Trophies will be award'd in the
boys division to the champion, the
runner-up, and the ronsolnti >n
winner. There are also two troph-
ies in the girls division.

Who is the favorite?
Reed, who coaches Dunbar, felt
sure those >vo San Antonio teams
will be strong, but said his Dunbar
Steers "are hoping to win."
Tickets are 50 cents for adults
and 25 cents for students.

France R. Adams, farmer nt
Mercury for many years, died at
1:15 p. m. Wednesday in Brady
Hospital. He was 50.

Okla„ he came to Mercury with
his family in 1!K)5 and had lived
there since.
Survivors are his wife; four
sons, Rolan. Nelson, Frank, and
George Adams, all of Mercury;
five daughters, Mrs. Jack Hudson

Peggy, Patsy, and Rota, all of
Mercury; and three brothers.

the funeral at the Mercury Baptist
Church at 3:30 p. m. Thursday.
