Nearly everybody trca'.ed us
courteously, anrt ail promised to
clean up except some who are
not now in anv class. These
should be looked into by the City
Health Officer. We found no
garbage cans in the rear of stores
closed, and all were literally
alive with flies. These cans
should be kept covered, and re*
moved daih. The garbage cans
in some places are horrible.
Manv places show where tbe
sweepings have been piled in tbe
corner of the building, it seemed
for a whole week. Many places
are clean in front but mightv bad
in the rear. There are some
places we visited that we would
like to mention because of tbe
dean inviting conditions that
prevail, and some because of the
actual tiltb that we found there
We have decided to make no mto*
tion of anv names in this report.
We will do that later, We have
already been asked by several
ladies for the names of the clean-
est places as they wanted to
transfer their account*, but this
wc have refused to give.
Chas. Davis & Co., agreed to
remove all of their goods of every
characrer from tbe sidewalks it
the competitors would do the
same. We hope that this will he
done as it gives a very bad at*
pearance to a stranger, and is al*
so dangerous as people arc liable
to run into cultivators, and the
barbed wire is liable to tear
skirts. Nearly all of the stores
agreed to clean the tobacco spit
from in front of their stores pn
the side walks.
Another visit will be made the
last of the week, and we hope
thing* will be found in a better
condition.
Respectfully submitter!,
