RAGKNOTS NOSE OUT BAIRD
IN LAST MINUTE OF PLAY
Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock the
Ragknots eased into the lead to win
over Baird in the last few seconds of
play by a follow-up shot of Alexan-
der's. For tho whole game the score had
been close and remained so through-
out the third quarter and the first
part of the fourth. In the last min-
ute of play the Baird team made a
lucky shot through the Ragknot de-
fense to bring the scoro to 20-21.
On tho next play the Baird team got
the tip-off and tho Ragknot defense
formed quickly. Cooper and Carter
got tho ball and gave it to Aleck.
He dribbled through tho Baird de-
fense and after three misses suc
ceeded in ringing tho fourth one. Tho
score stood thus at the end of the
game.
Morgan and Mcintosh were the
stars for Baird with Alexander Car-
ter and Arlcdgo shining for the Rag-
knots. Ernest Maxwell was the ref-
eree. o
POTOSI LOSES TO RAGKNOT
TEAM 29-12 MONDAY NIGHT
In n slow game here Monday night
tho Ragknots had little trouble in
downing tho Potosi quintet 29-12
coached by A. J. Sumorall former
student. "At no time were tho Rag
knots pushed for scores though their
passes were ragged and many shots
wero missed.
Sumerall who was here last year
has turned out a fair organization
from his material as Potosi organized
their team for the first time last
year. Starring for tho Potosi team
was Varnell and Lockley.
High point man for the evening was
Weldon Cloud with 10 points. Those
who played were Grimes Carter
Cloud North Baker Cooper Max-
well Arledge Gray Coffman Sho-
waiter and Showaltcr.
A.C.C. BASKETBALL TEAM
BEATS HIGH SCHOOL TEAM
The fighting A. C. A.'s basketball
team won another victory Saturday
night when they beat an all-star team
from the high school by a score of
11-13.
Vaughn was tho outstanding play-
er for tho Academy being assisted
by Baxter and Fleming mostly
Vaughn played like a veteran cover-
ing the whole court and managing to
be high-point man scoring 7 points.
Massey Brookshire and Showalter
starred for tho visitors. Those who

Basketball seems to be tho leading
sport in most parts of the country and
this part of the U. S. A. is no excep-
tion at least not in A. C. C. Tho Cats
are getting into shapo very fast and
aro due to give the other teams in
tho T. I. A. A. something to think
about from tho start of the raco to
tho finish. The Wildcats have seven
men coming out that have had a great
deal of experience on tho hardwood
floors and among this seven there are
five lettermen around which the team
will be built.
The dream of all basketball coaches
is to have a club that will nverngcslx
feet or more and that is just exactly
what the Cat coaches have this year
that is if Coach Morris starts Pippen
Lee Powell Lawrence Allen and
Wortham. AH of these men arc on
the six foot mark or over but if Reese
is used in the place of wortham the
team will lack just a trifle of reaching
the half dozen marker.
If reserve material means anything
to a basketball team the "Morrlsmon
aro well looked after in that depart-
ment. Among the recruits that are
looking tho best is "Chesty" White
Worth Watklns Alvls Day Roynolds
and Allen. Tho main trouble with
tho reserve material is that it is near-
ly all made up of forwards and from
tho looks of things there will be a
few of them made into guards and
centers
When Coach J. Eddie Wcems issued
the call for .the first track practice
last Monday .there i were a number of
old faces missing from .the roll among
those mussing werc 'Jot Jlodges Dyle
Vaughn.ErncstThompson; alI!ofthIs
trio were members of the record
breaking imedlcy mile relay team .and
they were also valuable to tlie team in
their individual events.
The outlook for a winning track
team this year is good according to
Coach Weems. The team will be
weaker all-round but there will "be a
greater number of individual stars on
tho team this season thnn there was
last year. The things that the Cats
will be the weakest in will be-the hur-
dles and the sprints unless someone
shows up for them in the next week
or so.
Tho team will have a number of the
old men back from last year and with
the new men that are on hand the
Cats should not have very much trou-
ble in the meets that they have sched-
uled. The old men that are on deck
are Jesse Wood 440-star Goober
Keyes pole vaultcr Tiny Adams
weight man Elmer Gray miler Jim
Lawrence hurdler and high Jumper
and Arthur Hunter two-mile man.
John Simmons and Worth Watklns
will add to tho strength of the team
a great deal as they won the stnte
high school mile and high jumps re-
spectively nnd if "Fuzz" Thompson
and Bill Wcems enroll for the winter
term the team will be complete.

legiate Shoe Repairing we do it.

In tho second game tho Trent all-
.stars were bewildered and beaten by
the Ragknots through one half. In
the second qunrtcr a new team was
Used and in the third quarter a squad
of academy and training school boys
were sent in composed of the Sho-
waiter brothers Fleming Baxter
Reese and North. Tho little boys

ers to a 15 point lead scoring 2 points
