Entering today's Homecoming
football game are two Lone Star
Conference teams with three
things in common: identical 1-2
conference records hopes of
landing a post-season bowl bid
and embarrassing losses to
defending national champion
Texas A&I.
In the 34th meeting between
ACU and East Texas State
University the Wildcats will be
riding high after last week's
51-14 romp over Stephen F.
Austin while the Lions try to
regroup from their 37-0 whip-
ping at the hands of Texas A&I.
The contest will showcase
several of the LSC's leading
performers. ACU quarterback
Jim Reese is currently the LSCs
leading passer averaging slightly
over 202 yards per game in the
air. The senior also ranks second
in individual total offense in the
conference.
Wildcat tight end Gary
Stirman and wingback Cle
Montgomery are the fourth and
fifth leading receivers in the
LSC averaging 61 and 43.6
yards per game respectively.
Stirman has 18 catches for 305
yards while Cle has 17 for 218
yards.
East Texas is led by tailback
Mike Richardson who is the
second leading rusher in the
conference and averages 96
yards per game. He was the
LSC's leading rusher until last
week.
Lion quarterback Terry
Skinner is the third leading
passer In the conference and his
favorite target is wingback Chris
Lemberg the LSC's third leading
receiver with 23 catches for 295
yards and one touchdown.

well turn out to be ACU tailback

the ACU career rushing record.
One more touchdown will give
the all-American more touch-
downs than any other player in
the history of collegiate football.

while many players are still
among the walking wounded for
today's game.
ACU's improving offensive
Jine proved to be the key to last
week's offensive circus. The
Wildcats ran for 237 yards and
passed for 250 in the game.
Reese hit 13 of 19 for 238 yards
