Miss Wilson
Is Married
In Kansas
First Baptist Church of Sa-
lma, Kans., was the scene of
the marriage of Miss Wanda
Mae Wilson and Melvin Edward
Wilson. •
Mr. and Mrs. I. A. Wilson,
former residents of Kermit who
recently moved to Blackwell,
Okla., are parents of the bride.
Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson,
Salina, are parents of the bride-
groom.
Church decorations were an
altar in a setting of white glad-
ioli, tied with satin ribbons.
Rev. Dale Crow read the double
ring ceremony.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a floor-
length dress of white lace,
styled with fitted bodice and
long sleeves of lace which came
to • petal points at the wrists.
Her shoulder-length veil was
fastened to a petal crown trim-
med with pearls. Her bouquet
was roses and camellias, car-
ried on a white Bible.
Mrs. Joel Carter, sister of the
bridegroom, was matron of hon-
or, and bridesmaids were Cheryl
Wise and Melva Ann Schalk.
Rodney Wilson was his broth-
er’s best man and ushers were
Carl Jay and Bert Jones.
The bride’s mother wore a
dress of brown jersey with gold
accessories and the bride-
groom’s mother wore beige wool
with brown accessories. Both
wore corsages of roses and ca-
mellias.
For the reception which fol-
lowed in the- church, bride’s
table was covered with white
lace over blue and centered
with the traditional three-tiered
wedding cake, topped with
bride and groom figurines.
The bride attended Kermit
High School and her husband
is a 1957 graduate of Salina
High School and attended Wich-
ita Business College. He is man-
ager of a mill at Salina, where
the couple will live.

Malayan aborigines move
their settlements continually be-
cause of mystic dread of spirits
and disease. A Malayan legend
says a nomadic tribe was pun-
ished because it flouted a di-
vine decree forbidding it to re-
main more than four days in
one place.

Rutherford on the Job
>“■ SOME PEOPLE SAY THEY DON’T like Representa-
tive J. T. Rutherford because he’s a “professional politi-
cian.”
If they mean he has done very well in the vote-getting
line, that definition stands up.
But Mr. Rutherford, for a “professional politician,”
has taken an unusual stand. He said, “all opposition,
I consider dangerous,” but still he’s staying in Wash-
ington in the midst of a campaign to represent the
interests of the district in some of the top issues to
come before Congress this year.
“Professional politicians” just don’t act that way.
Votes on the floor of the House mean a lot less to them
than potential votes in the ballot box.
But it looks like Mr. Rutherford is putting his people
and his responsibility ahead of politics which, for a
“professional politician,” just doesn’t seem natural.
