Drat the war! On with the series.
Mexico is a bunch of sillies;
We bet our money on the Boston Beans,
And “cover” it on the Phillies.
Bad habits are deformers—good habits re-

This October brand of weather certainly is
great stuff.
Lens, France, looks like the focusing point of
the moment.
There are too many of us with ideas that are
not marketable.
The road to success is open but it is not paved
with good intentions.
Something to worry about: Human nature
canhot be abolished.
The Dallas Fair is no Dallas hot house plant.
It is a Texas product.

The Bonham cotton market is good. Bring
your cotton to Bonham.
The banks in a town are places of interest.to

Two years of tut-tutting has failed to make a
peaceful country of Mexico.
THE HRINEY WEEPS.
When we go to see pathetic shows we
Shed the briney weepe
As villains capture hero-ines while
Mr. Hero sleeps;
Of course we sometimes sob because
The show is on the blink;
And then we often sniffle 'cause the
Actors make us think.
We know the rei son why we bawl
At dramas that are sail;
We either weep because they’re true
Or ’cause the acting’s bad;
Yet is there one among you who can
Tell us mortals why
The peeling of an onion makes a
Human being cry?

There are said to be 1.500.000 automobile

latter, incidentally, of some practical use in
the world.—Bonham Favorite.
Then there’s the open-and-shut fan with "pur-
ty" pictures painted all over it—the kind you used
to buy when you were young and ignorant and
irresponsible and wear with about three inches
of it extending above the opening in your outside
coat pocket until you connected with her of your
dreams, then you brought it into commission and
waved it up and down in front of her smiling, per-
spiring face until you felt like your arm would
drop off.—Mineral Wells Index.

The sweetest misery that a boy enjoys in sad-
ness is when the first down breaks out on his lip
end the first girl breaks in on his life. His ambi-
tion is to get hold of a safety razor and a marriage
license. At this delightfully miserable period of
his existence he has the sympathy of his mother
i and the earnest, glowing, undying, broad, deep
love of his sighing princess. Eevryone else feels
like knocking him on the head. He goes to see his
girl’s brother. To this brother he gives every at-
tention that a true knight owes his fair lady.
Occasionally he sees the girl herself, but he has
little to say to her. and she has about the same toj
say to him. He tells others things to tell her. and
she sends back messages of devotion. He is very
jealous and when he phones her he says: “I don’t.
ihink you care much for me. Well, you don’t act!
l'ke it. You know how I want you to act. Yes. I
guess you don’t know who it is. Who was it you i
had sharpen your pencil Monday? Yes. I suppose;
you wanted him to happen to he standing then*
with a knife." Finally she convinces him that she.
is not about to dope with the other boy because!
she permitted him to sharpen a pencil. Then thej
lover talks on in an equally intelligent manner
until both run out of what they think is some-!
thing to say. When a young boy and a young girlt
are in love they get more joy out of looking at
each other than a millionaire can buy with all ofl
jhis wealth. And when something goes wrong
they suffer more agony than ever was endured
|l»y a martyr. latter in life the devotion is more,
j lasting, but the affection flict in mature years is,
.t flame no brighter than a glowworm when com-,
11*r»sl with th* forest fire of puppy love.—Claud*

After conferring with the Board of

our guests. We ure inviting every-

We want to show these representa-
