FHA honors center volunteers
The Ingleside Chapter of Fu-
ture Homemakers of America at
Ingleside High School hosted a
party Tuesday for the Ingleside
Friends of the Earth Recycling
volunteers.
Volunteers were honored with
certificates presented by Jerry
Hampton, president of the Ing-
leside Chamber of Commerce.
Special certificates were pre-
sented to Charlene Farias, the
youngest volunteer; Berdee Bar-
bie, the oldest volunteer; Emma
Blasingame and Joe Encarnacao,
the volunteers who worked the
Performance Auto Detailing
decorating contest winner
Time and effort have paid off in
more ways than one for seven
businesses, winners in the Ing-
leside Chamber of Commerce
Christmas decorating contest.
First place went to Perform-
ance Auto Detailing. A #500
award went with first place. The
lights will be on til 8 each night for
those who would like to go by and
see this award winning effort.
Second place, a #200 award,
went to Tiny Tots Day Care.
Third place, #100 a wards, went
to Dairy Queen, A New You salon,
Dr. Ricky Broussard, Lone Star
Lumber, and Ed Williams.
Mark Crawford donated the
prize money for the contest. Out
of town judges made the winning
selections.

A video presentation of the
Corpus Christi BFI Recycling
Center was shown by Camron
Bownds. The volunteers enjoyed
a variety of holiday refreshments
and door prizes.
The success of the recycling
bins would not be possible with-
out the many volunteers who de-
dicate their time and energy.
Volunteers who worked during
November include Jo Ann Smith,
Austin Smith, J.E. Habluetzel,
Kimberly Robbins, Renee Perry,
Crystal Naquin, Joe Marie Garza,
Leah Martinez, Susie Morris,
Camron Bownds, Debbie Cook,
Marilyn Barker, Carl Jordan, and
Leigh Ann Taylor.
Recyclable items accepted at
the bins on the H.E.B. parking lot
include clean clear and brown
glass, aluminum, tin, plastics
with a “ 1 ” or “2”, and newspaper.
Items not accepted include
green glass, plastic with a “3”
through “7", plastic bags, lids,
tops, or caps of containers, or foil.
Recyclable items should be
taken to the bins on Thursday
from 4 to 6 p.m., or Saturdays
from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Anyone is invited to be a volun-
teer for the center. Interested
persons may call Camron
Bownds, 776-5389, or Renee Per-
ry, 776-2995.
LEON TAYLOR JUNIOR HIGH ADOPT AN ANGEL proved to be a success as 17 children will have a
better Christmas thanks to students at the school who contributed to a fund to buy gifts for the children.

The junior high student coun-
cil successfully completed its
Adopt An Angel Christmas pro-
ject this weekend by shopping for
the needy youngsters.
The student council raised
#500 from daily donations over .a
nine-day period. Students de-
cided to give a little each day in
place of the daily candy bar or ice
cream following lunch. The prog-
ram combined the student coun-
cil, student body, and staff efforts.
The junior high received its 17
“angels” from the Ingleside High
School Student Council. The
high school council worked
directly with the Salvation Army
in selecting the angels.
Volunteer shoppers carried out
their duties over the weekend.
Santa’s helpers included Mandy
Herndon, Matt Bridges, Alex Can-
field, Alisha Dailey, Lori Waiter-
man, Hesper Holmes, Rachelle
French, Leslie Worcester, Gab-
rielle French, Jenifer Campbell,

celebrates
Christmas
The Ingleside Woman’s Club
celebrated its annaul Christmas
party at Dolores Holmes’ house
Tuesday, Dec. 7.
After enjoying the food pre-
pared by all the members, guests
and members played a Christmas
game for the presents under the
tree. The Woman’s Club and the
Ingleside Public Library collect
non-perishable food, etc. for local
church pantries.
The club’s next meeting will be
Tuesday, Jan 4 at the library.

DAVIS
James LaVem Davis, Jr., 40, of
Rockport, died Sunday, Nov 28, in
Pasadena. x
He was a neon sign manufacturer, a.
member of the Baptist church and an
Army veteran.
Survivors include his son, James L.
Davis, III, of Houston: step-daughter,
Victoria M Clark of Houston;
mother, Betty Jean Ward of Rock-
port; sister and brother-in-law, Molly
and Dwayne Laqua of Clear Lake;
brother, Richard B. Davis of Houston.
Memorial services will be held at 11
a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at First Bap-
tist Church, Rockport, with Rev.
Charles Fake officiating. Private bu-
rial will follow.
Aransas Memorial Funeral Home,
Roekport-Fulton.

Lillian Ruth Reveil, 58, died Sun-
day, Dec. 12 in Port Aransas.
Mrs. Re veil lived in Port Aransas
most of her life and was a bank teller
for International Bank, Port Aransas.
She was a member of St Joseph’s
Catholic Church and the VFW Auxili-
ary No. 8367 in Port Aransas.
Survivors include her husband,
Donald Revell of Port Aransas; sons,
{ancy Gillespie, Jr., Elbert Gillespie,
Kmmy Gillespie and James Revell, all
of Port Aransas; daughter, Anna Gar-
cia of Corpus Christi; sisters, Myrtle
Shedd of Aransas Pass and Clara
Tamburin of Ingleside; nine grand-
children and six great-
grandchildren
Funeral services were held at 10
a.m yesterday at St. Joseph Catholic
Church, Port Aransas. Private
graveside services will be held at a
later date
