The women's basketball team
will try to make LSC basketball
history n second time Saturday
when the Wildcats play West Texas
A&M University at 6 p.m. in
Canyon. They will play Eastern
New Mexico University Monday at
6:30 p.m. CST in Portales N.M.
The Wildcats defeated the Lady
Buffs for the first time in Lone Star
Conference action Saturday in Abi-
lene 101-76. They never have won
in Canyon.
ACU sports information director
Garner Roberts said the WTAMU
Fieldhouse known as "The Box"
seats about 2000 people which is
the second smallest basketball arena
in the LSC.
Women's head basketball coach
Suzanne Fox .said "They have a lot

women's track and field teams
will compete at Lubbock Christian
University Saturday.
The teams were not scheduled for
a meet this weekend but eleven
Wildcats wanted to compete so they
could try to qualify for the NCAA
Division II Indoor National Champ-
ionships in Fargo N.D. coach Wes
Kittlcy said.
Larry Jones sophomore from
Memphis Texas will compete in
both the 55-mctcr dash and the 200-
metcr dash. Scan Adams senior
from Fairfield Calif. also will run
the 55-mctcr dash. They will be the
only members of the men's team to
participate in this meet.
Nine members of the women's
team will compete.
Hcrmin Joseph junior from Vi-
cille Case Dominica will run the
55-mctcr dash.
Chari Pennington freshman from
Alcdo will compete in the 500-
mctcr run

The men's and women's tennis
teams will open their spring
schedules Friday at 2 p.m. at St.
Edwards University in Austin.
"St. Edwards is a strong NAIA
program. Wc expect them to be top-
heavy but weaker at the bottom"
tennis coach Ron Elston said mean-
ing the players in the higher flights
will face much stronger competition
than those in the lower flights.
Elston said he expects Robby
Scott junior from Tyler to play in
Right I singles for the ACU men.
Steve Moore senior from Corpus
Christi will play Flight 2 singles.
Scott will team with Neil Tjon-
Hing sophomore from Corpus
Christi to play Flight 1 doubles.

from Abilene will play Flight 2
doubles. Elston said he is uncertain
who will fill the other spots.

this semester.
After playing St. Edwards Fri-
day both teams will face the Uni-
versity of Texas-San Antonio Sat-
urday at 10 a.m. in San Antonio. S
"UTSA is a strong NCAA Di-
vision I program. Wc expect them
to be strong at the top and really
deep" Elston said.
