Homecoming Queen will reign as Coming
Home Queen and will crown the new queen
Saturday during half-time activities at
Shotwell Stadium said Dewby Ray
director of alumni reunions.
Alexander was a biology major and
graduated from ACU in May 1973.
While attending ACU Alexander was
chosen class favorite all four years and
served as cophomore junior and senior
class secretary. She held various offices in
GATA was a member of W Club and
Campus Christian Women and was listed
in Who's Who and on the Dean's Honor
List.
Alexander's husband Jim Alexander Is
a 1972 ACU graduate and Is vlco president
of Richardson Savings and Loan

The Alexanders have two sons Doss. 4
and Jackson IS months. Mrs. Alexander
said In an interview with ACU Today she
hoped her sons would become future ACU
Wildcats.
Before settling into her full-time job
raising her sons Alexander worked as a
doctor's assistant from 1974 to 1077
The Alexanders are members of the
Watcrvlcw Church of Christ in Richardson
where Mrs. Alexander works with IB and
24-month-old children-

alumnus and Lubbock Christian High
School band director will direct the Dig
Purple in the national anthem at the
beginning of the ACU-East Texas State
football game said John Whitwcll ACU
director of bands. y
Maxwell who graduated from ACU in )
1933 has had several compositions
published.
Whitwcll said "Most of the compositions
are marches including The Dig Purple
March' which Maxwell named after the
ACU Dig Purple." "A few years ago this
march was very popular with bands across
the country" Whitwell said.
Maxwell was invited to conduct the band
because "We wanted to honor him for his
great teaching career" Whitwell said. He
also said Maxwell is the Dig Purple's Most
Dlstigulshed Alumnus of the Year.
Whitwell said that in keeping with the
Homecoming theme "Let's Have an Old-
Fashioned Homecoming" the Dig Purple
will play "Mickey Mouse" during the pre- Qf
game show. "We encourage everyone to
stand and sing along" Whitwell said. "We
picked Mickey Mouse because we felt it
was nostalgic and thought everyone would
remember it" Whitwcll said.
The bund also will play "Piano Roll
Blues" featuring a Dixieland band
Whitwell said.
A Cappella to sing
A Coppella's first performance of its
50th anniversary year will be Saturday at
10:30 a.m. after Homecoming Chapel said j-vv

and director of choral activities
Pullen said the traditional Homecoming
concert featuring the 69-mcmbcr A
Cappella Chorus will last about 30
minutes. R will include works composed
by Johannes Drahms Franz Schubert and
Randall Thompson.
The choir also will perform "Come Unto
Me" composed by Leonard Durford
Pullen said. Burford was A Cappella 's first
director. - -
After the performance Dr Robert
Hunter vice president for the university
will make a special announcement with
regard to the establishment of the ACU f
Choral Society and the Leonard Burford y' '
Tribute Luncheon Pullen said. The lun-
cheon will be Feb. 20 1963 In Moody
Coliseum
The luncheon Pullen said is to help
raise money for a choral scholarship
endowment fund. "We arc expecting
approximately gqo-800 people to attend
and we feel that we can raise at least
1150000" Pullen said.
