A "friendly suit" was filed merely as
a formality because of legal
technicalities in making such a set-
tlement with a minor said Gerald
Johnson. Because Andre Johnson is a
minor an insurance settlement ap-
proved by him or his mother would not
be binding on him as a adult. Thus to
make the agreement binding what is
termed & "friendly suit" must be filed
in court and approved by a Judge.
However the payment of damages
docs not constitute any admission of
liability nor any legal determination of
such Gerald Johnson said. The set-
tlement was made to avoid any future
litigation.

ACU students by encouraging interns to
return to share their experiences with
others.
Lewis said "While the qualifications
for the internship are very general the
intention is to give Uie internship an
honors flavor by selecting only the most
qualified students available."
The internship will begin the first
Sunday in June and will run through
July. Jack Reese a 1973 graduate of
ACU and preaching minister for the
Oak Hills Church of Christ in San An-
tonio will be the on-site coordinator for
the interns. Lewis will direct th In-
ternship froni Abilene. t
' Lewis said the interns will spend the
two months in contrasting
congregations. For examples and
intern may spend the first month with a
large multiple-staff congregation and
the second month with a small inner-
city congregation.
Lewis said "Jack and I will select the
congregations for the interns based on
their past experience trying to make
sure they have new and very different
experiences in San Antonio.
Lewis said "I welcome inquiries
about the internship from anyone in-
terested." He said "Our goal is to make the
training of preachers one of the
primary concerns of this university and
to make that training second to none."
Lewis said he believes this internship is
a valuable step toward that goal.
