Someone s got
story wrong
Sen. Harry Goldwater was reported in Tuesday's edition
of The Washington Post as saying he was 99 Vz per cent sure
Vice President Spiro Agnew would resign this week.
The Post continued its story to say Goldwater had held
lengthy discussions with Agnew the past few days concerning
the advisability of voluntary resignation.
According to the article the Republican senator also said
the vice president was determined to prove his innocence
of charges under present Baltimore investigation and that
he was considering resignation because of intense pressure
on his family and also because of indications President Nixon
wanted him to.
Only trouble with this is Goldwater has flatly denied all
ofitandsaidhehasn'tspokentothePostreporterresponsible
for the story in months.
The senator also stated that Agnew is a close political
and social friend whom he has seen recently but in no meet-
ing has the subject of resignation arisen.
It appears someone's got their story wrong.
One source familiar with the vice president's affairs has
stated "a bad overreading of something Agnew might have
toyed with" led to the story which is causing question
throughout the country.
Has some aspiring journalist put what he thinks is two
and two together made a gross interpretation and spread
n across wie nation:
Or could this be just another

Someone ought to quit playing yo-yo with the press before
it loses all believability by not being more responsible.
And some reporter should get
and stick to the facts.
