Amendment No. 91
Representative Chavez offered the following amendment to CSSB 1:

Amend CSSB 1 as follows:
(1) Under the Article XI appropriation to the Texas Tech University Health
Sciences Center (page XI-61), add the following appropriately numbered rider:
CONTINGENT APPROPRIATION: TEXAS TECH DIABETES RESEARCH
CENTER. Contingent on the enactment of HB 2510 or similar legislation of
the 77th Legislature relating to the establishment of a diabetes research center
at the a regional academic health center of the Texas Tech University Health
Sciences Center and in addition to other amounts appropriated by this Act,
the sum of $272,500 is hereby appropriated out of the General Revenue
Fund to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for the fiscal year
ending August 31, 2002, for the purpose of establishing a diabetes research
center at a regional academic health center of the Texas Tech University
Health Sciences Center, and the additional sum of $817,500 is hereby
appropriated out of the General Revenue Fund to the Texas Tech University
Health Sciences Center for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2003.
(2) Under the article XI appropriation to the Texas Tech University Health
Sciences Center, reduce the amount under the: EL PASO FOUR YEAR
MEDICAL SCHOOL and under the rider for that initiative by $1,090,000.
(3) Adjust the article totals (page XI-61) accordingly.

Amendment No. 92
Representative Chavez offered the following amendment to CSSB 1:

Amend CSSB 1 as follows:
(1) Under the Article XI appropriation, add the following appropriately
numbered rider following the bill pattern for the Department of Public Safety:
CONTINGENT APPROPRIATION: MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE
DATABASE. Contingent upon the enactment of HB 718 or similar legislation
relating to a motor vehicle liability database, the Department of Public Safety
is hereby appropriated $1,028,239 for fiscal year 2002 and $173,655 for fiscal
year 2003 out of the motor vehicle liability account within the General
Revenue Fund for the purposes of implementing this Act. The Department of
Public Safety is hereby authorized to transfer the appropriation made pursuant
to this provision to the appropriate strategy items listed above. Funds
appropriated by this provision may be expended for capital budget purposes
notwithstanding limitations on capital budget expenditures elsewhere in this
Act. Also contingent on the enactment of HB 718, or similar legislation, the
"Number of Full-time Equivalent Positions(FTE)" figure indicated above is
hereby increased by 3 for fiscal year 2002 and 3 for fiscal year 2003.
