HERTWIGERS WIN /
FROM PELLICANS
Saturday’s Game A Fast One
Witnessed by 1,000 En-
thusiastic Fans.
The largest crowd of the sea-
son turned 'out Saturday (Decor-
ation Day) to see the Hertwig-
ers wallop the Corpus Christi
Pelicans, it being estimated that
there were fully one thousand
present.
Carter pitched his first game
with the locals, which was “the
first he had pitched in some'
time, but he filled the box well
and had lots of steam. Nelson,
of the Pelicans, also worked well)
allowing only four clean hits.
The three errors of the Peli-
cans, coupled with the straight
halls and free; transportation of
Nelson, lost the game for the
Pelicans, for after the first in-
ning, with the Aransas Pass boys
at the plate, the score board for
the visitors was spoiled as the
locals made four runs in the
first.
The Hertwigers showed spied-
HOW TO GET STRENGTH
after any sickness is purely a matter of
nourishment, whether the attack was
an ordinary cold or severe illness; the
weakened forces cannot repulse disease
germs, and this is why a relapse is so
often fatal or why chronic weakness often
follows sickness. j
Restoring strength to millions of people !
for forty years has proven the real need j
for taking Scott’s Emulsion after any
sickness; nothing equals it — nothing
compares with it. Its pure, medicinal j
nourishment, free from alcohol or opiates, i
promptly creates rich blood, strengthens '
the nerves and lungs to avert tuberculosis. •

As a SPECIAL INTRODUCTO-
Howland Brothers
. . RY offer,■ we will allow the fol-
did fielding, there being register- iowing prices for the. next ten
ed only one error and that! was
hardly avoidable. y
When the Hertwigers Came to
the bat. in the first inning, Par-
tain flew out to left field, "John-
son got through on an error 6f
third, Hertwig singled to left
field, Cummings walked, Little
hit a twco, bagger to left, scoring
Johnson and Hertwig; Edwards
Kit to third and Cummings scor-
ed; Brown hit to center ; Ed-
wards put out at third,, also
Brown when Knowlton attempt-
ed to sacrifice. This fpsilade
wound up in four talleys to the
credit of the Hertwigers.
There was 110 more scoring un-
til the fourth, when the visitors
began to even things up a little.
Joe Kelly walked to first and
his brother Jim sacrificed; then
Peilingrino hit through second,
scoring Joe; Shiner was caught
out by left field.
In the sixth the visitors again
tried to even things lip, when
Evers was hit by the hall and
went to third on Williams’ hit
over second. Joe Kelly made a
safe hit, scoring Evers, followed
by his brother Jim, who did the
same thing, scoring Williams,
which made three scores, which
could not be raised, leaving the
score standing at the end of the
game 3 to 4 in favor of the
Hertwigers.
