Friends Confused
About Date Of
Kern Wedding
Confused about the wedding
date of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd J.
Kern of Cooper, friends dropped
in on them at their home last
Sunday afternoon laden with
gifts for their 49th anniversary,
only to learn that the anniver-
sary date is Mav 25
It was on May 25, 1913 that
Miss Marv Taylor of the Brushy
Mound Community became the
bride of Floyd J. Korn, a
farmer of that area. The late
Rev. Joe McClain said the wed-
ding ceremony in Cooper. Since
he retired from farming five
years ago they have lived in
Cooper.
Daughter of the late Munroc
and Sarah Taylor, Mrs. Kem
was born at Brushy Mound on
Nov 13, 1889, and has lived in
Delta County all her life. Mr.
Korn was born in Virginia on
Feb. 14, 1890 and came to Delta
County with his parents, the
late Mr. and Mrs. George Kern,
when he was 10 years old, the
family settling in the Lake
Creek area.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Kern have
long been members of the Bap-
tist Church, and attend the
First Baptist Church in Cooper,
Although Mrs. Kern was ill
during the earlier years of her
married life, she is now in per-
fect health, grows a fine gar-
den, does all of her yard work
and keeps her home. Mr. Kern
suffers with arthritis and is un-
able to work, though he walks
to town now and then.
Mrs. Kern says she is saving
the anniversary gifts which her
friends brought last Sunday,
and will open them on the actu-
al anniversary.
