R. H. Good Announces
For County Judge
Sen. Chas. R. Floyd
Asks for Re-election
PARIS, Texas, Jan. 2,—State Sena-
tor Charles R. Floyd announced here
today that he would be a candidate
for re-election to the State Senate
from this district. He said he would
make a formal statement to the vot-
ers of this district within the next
few weeks outlining his past services
and giving his views on legislative
matters in which the people are in-
terested. It is generally conceded here
that there will be no other condidate
for the State Senate from Lamar
County.
Candidate for Pub-
lic Weigher, Precinct 6
R. H. GOOD
To the Voters of Delta County:
In submitting my candidacy for the
office of County Judge I feel like I
am in a position to know particularly
. the responsibility of that office.
By law the county clerk is also clerk j
of the Probate Court, Commissioners
Court and Juvenile Court as well as
the County Court. The clerk of the
County Court records and. of neces-
sity, is familiar with almost every
official act of the County Judge Hav-
ing served for the past three yea-s
as County Clerk I have become well
acquainted with every duty placed by
law on the County Judge. I am now
acquainted with the business affairs
of the county by reason of handling
all the detail matters in connection
therewith since I have been Countv
Clerk.
In all the cases tried by the County
Judge since I have been clerk T have
been present in the court room, hand-
ling all the papers in the cases and ■
acquainting myself with the rules of ,
law applicable to those cases. This
has been almost equal to three years
in law school. Even before I be-
came County Clerk I began the study
of law. and have pursued my studies
as diligently as my work would per-
mit. I expect to continue the study
of law with the view of taking the
bar examination and getting license i
to practice law. |
In this connection I wish to say
that the law does not require the
County Judge to be a licensed lawyer.
Our present County Judge, though a
law student, did not get his license
to practice law until after he went
into office. Judge T. E. McMillan,
former County Judge, did not get his
license until after he went into office.
If the people of Delta County aee
fit to honor me with the office of
County Judge, I pledge you my best
efforts in behalf of a safe, sane and
economical administration of the
county’s business affairs. In the trial
of cases, both civil and criminal, it
shall be my constant endeavor to ap-
ply the law as it is written without
fear or favor.
As your County Clerk I have tried
at all times to be at my post of duty,
and I trust my friends who supported
me in that race have not had occa-
sion te regret it. If, after investi-
gation of my record and ability to
fill the office, you can see your way
clear to promote me to the office of
County Judge, I will appreciate it and
will render you the best service of
which I am capable.
As the campaign progresses I sh’ll
try to see as many voters in person
as possible to solicit your vote.
Yours respectfully,
R. H. GOOD.
The Review and Courier is author- i
ized to announce the candidacy of ;

lie weigher of precinct 6, subject to !
the action of the Democratic primary
next July.
Mr McFerrin was reared in the Pe-
can Gap community and for the past
12 years has been a resident of Pecan
Gap. He is a young man of sterling
worth, capable and trustworthy and
if elected to the office would give clos'’
attention to its duties. For the past
three years he has assisted his father
as public weigher and understands
the details of the work. He will ap-
preciate your support.
