DALLAS, Texas, Feb. 12.—South-
land Llife Insurance Company business
and crop reports for the month of
January indicate strongly a “watch-
ful waiting” attitude over the entire
State. In the main, business condi-
tions are reported around normal, with
some expectations on the optimistic
and others pessimistic. Answer-
ing the question: “Have recent finan-
cial developments had any effect on
business conditions in your communi-
ty?” most are inclined to believe that
the effects of the stock market crash
in Texas are over-estimated.
The brightest spot in the entire re-
port is the fact that there has been
a general liquidation of debts on the
part of farmers, and very few new
accumulated. It is true that this li-
quidation has left the farmers with
an extremely small cash surplus, but
the report is encouraging, neverthe-
less.
There is very little encouragement
In the prospect of greater diversifi-
cation during the coming year. Some
communities., report rapid development
of the idea of diversification, while
others appear not to be affected at
all.
Merchants, in general, appear to be
somewhat depressed. This, however,
seems unquestionably due to the bad
weather encountered during the past
five or six weeks.
The business map shows no condi-
tions rated as excellent. It does show,
however, more counties rated as nor-
mal than has been the case in any
previous January report. Almost with-
out exception, farmers are looking to-
ward a better cotton crap and better
grain crops than ever before and the
probable absence of insect infestation
due to hard freezes over the entire
State is considered likely.

elm trees will be given to every farm-

Mrs. Bloxsom Says She Wishes
Everyone Suffering as She
Has Could Find Out About
Orgatone (Argotane.)
- ■■ <»> ■ —
“For twenty years I suffered with
stomach trouble, bleating and the
usual attendant pains and after try-
ing medicine after medicine I heard
of without getting better I at last found
something that has put an end to my
troubles and I feel that I ought to tell
what It is,” said Mrs. M. E. Bloxsom,
well known Sherman woman who re-
sides at 1219 King Street, in conver-
sation at her home.
’Gas would form on my stomach
after eating,” continued Mrs. Blox-
som. “I would bloat and belch, a
condition that I call colic; I was dis-
turbed at night when I ate the wrong
things and could not sleep. Why I
would have nervous rigors. Rheuma-
tism also bothered me and occasion-
ally I would have severe pains in my
back. At times I just had to get
along on soup and milk.
“A short time ago I began to read
about Orgatone (Argotane) and though
shy about trying any more medicines
I finally decided to give it a trial. And
I wish to say that on one bottle I felt
like a new person. My rheumatism
does not bother like it did. I am not
weak like I was and feel much strong-
er. My nerves are calming down and
that gassy, bloating, belching condi-
tion Is improving rapidly. I think it
is wonderful to do so much in two
weeks, and I wish everyone suffering
with these troubles could find out
about it."
Genuine Orgatone (Argotane) may
be bought in Cooper at the City Drug
Store.

Whereas, recently one of the trac-
tors owned and operated by this court | warrant for the sum of $1000.00 be is-
in Precinct No. 4 of said county has
become in such bad state of repair
that to repair same would cost appro-
ximately the sum of $1500.00 which ex-
penditure this court does not deem
advisable or economical; and
Whereas, the financial condtiion of
Delta County at this time because
of outstanding tndebtede&s and the
narrow margin of taxing power which
it has for the purchase of additional
road machinery is not sufficient to
warrant the Commissioners’ Court to
contract to pay a large sum of money
out of said road and bridge fund for
t.he current year 1930, and In order to
maintain said roads and protect them
from deterioration it is necessary for
the Commissioners’ Court to purchase
additional road tractor which it has
not the power to do as a current ex-
pense obligation, but may legally do
so by creating a debt maturing in an-
nual installments as hereinafter pro-
vided and levying a tax for its pay-
ment; and
sued and delivered to the said R. B.
George Machinery Company.

The Gas Dispatcher’s Office in Cold Weathei
is a Center of Action!
A "blue norther” swoops down with breath-
taking suddenness. Gas demands jump two—
five—ten times in a few hours—and tax the
gas system’s entire service facilities for days of
bitter cold weather! The gas dispatcher’s office
—nerve center of the Lone Star gas system—
springs into action!
At the gas dispatcher’s command is a
small army of telephone operators,
compressor station attendants, field
men, truck drivers, repair men—
co-ordinated through 1,200 miles of
private telephone wires, vibrating with
rapid-fire directions.
GAS
Orders to step up the pressure in any or all
of 25 compressor stations that the occasion
may demand—to rush repair crews to emet-
gency points on six great pipe lines totaling
3,500 miles in length—to turn in special reserve
gas wells in 25 different fields and run all wide
open—to have all pipe line men ready
night or day to keep the gas pressure
up at any cost!
Certainly a center of action—a center
of service—that more than a million
people may have gas continuously,
regardless of weather hazards and un-
precedented gas demands!
