Letter from Copes
Who Are in California
I lie following letter svus received
this week from Mr. and Mrs. James
A. Cope, formerly of this place, but
who now reside in California:
Rumors, Rumors and
Not a Room for Any
Delano, California,
Mai eh 28.
Ir. Steve Murphy,
onora, Texas.
/ear Mr. Murphy:
We noticed in a recent issue of
he Devil’s River News where you
lad sold the paper to Mr. Wilson of
iig Lake. This being one of the
eiy few “land marks” left in th ■
'est inland town in Texas, we, like
tundreds of others, no doubt, regret |
o hear it. We realize and appreciate
lie fact that the Devil’s River News
in; invriat a great deal in the devel-
ipnient of Sonora and Sutton Cnun-
y, and we are indeed glad to know
t will continue as “The Devil's R.v-
r News”. W’e wish you much suc-
ess in your new undertaking (what-
ever it may be), also Mr. Wilson suc-
ess, and congratulate him upon his
lioice of a location.
With very best wishes,
We are, very sincerely,
Mr. and Mrs. Jas. A. Cope
“Here are some of the things I hear
about every day in the week,” Sam
Hull, Ford dealer said yesterday:
“ 'It’s rumored that Ford is going to
get out a six cylinder car’, ‘It’s rumor-
ed that Ford is going to get out a
new eight,’ 'It’s rumored that Ford is
going to get out a new four with
u longer wheelbase,’ ‘It’s rumored that
Ford is going to change to a new
gear shift,’ and a lot of other tu-
mors.
“Now I'm going to tell one.
"It's rumored thut Ford is going
to build a big hotel up at Highland
Park in Detroit to take care of all
the rumors (roomers) that come
floating in every day.
“How’s that?
“But, seriously speaking, there is’nt
a greater transportation value in the
world today than the Ford car, and
♦ he Ford ear today is better than it
ever has been in all the years that
Ford has been making them. It costs
little to buy, little to operate and it
doesn’t make any difference where
you go there is Ford service to take
care of you. And that isn’t any ru-
mor.”
It is remembered by their many parents of their son, Millard, who
friends here that Mr. Cope was in has achieved fame and honor in the
the real estate business, and is en-1 journalistic world. Sonora claims
gaged in the same business in Califor- ’ these good people, and they will be
nia. remembered by many in this little
Mr. and Mrs, Cope are the proud city and in West Texas.
