Sen. Lloyd Bentsen has
qualified in all 31 Texas
senatorial districts to have his
name placed on the ballot in the
state’s first presidential prefer-
ence primary on May 1,
Agriculture Commissioner John
C. White, state presidential
campaign manager, said Thurs-
day.
"We had ceremonies in Fort
Worth Monday where the
Senator signed all of the
necessary documents”. White
said. "We then submitted them
to Secretary of State White early
Monday morning.
"We have far more than the
required number of signatures
of qualified voters with current
registration numbers on peti-
tions calling for Senator Bent-
sen’s candidacy. And each of
those names has been double-
checked to insure there won’t be
any snags for our statewide
Bentsen campaign.
"The same enthusiasm that
has made us the first to qualify
for a spot on the ballot statewide
is also going to make us the top
vote-getter statewide. Texans
will go for Lloyd Bentsen
because they respect his
leadership qualities and like the
job he has done representing us
so tar.”
