Marshall Chosen Frosh
Rep. to Student Council
Steve Marshall president of
the Abilene High School student
body last year and Cowboy Band
freshman this year was chosen
Freshman Representative to the
Student Council in Wednesday's
election.
Other candidates were Sue Bar-
ron Lamesa; Dale Haralson Lo-
raine; Beth Hudnall Clovis; and
George Ray Dimmit. There will
be no run-off since the Student
Association Constitution states
that representatives will be elect-
ed by a plurality vote.
A total of 535 turned out to
vote in the election held in the
Student Center.
Besides being president of his
student body last year Marshall
was vice - president h i s junior
year. He is a pre-law student
and says he prefers Texas Uni
versity law school right now "but
that's a long way off."
Marshall plays clarinet in the
Cowboy Band and tenor sax in
the stage band. As might be ex-
pected he lists music as his fav-
orite hobby.
Asked why he chose Hardin-
Simmons he replied "I've lived
in Abilene all my life and have
always looked forward to going
to H-SU because of the Cowboy
Band and the fact that they have
a good pre-law course."
He is the only freshman repre-
sentative as set by the Constitu-
tion. There are two sophomore
three juniors and two seniors.
Although these representatives
come from specific classes the
whole student body votes in their
election.
