Good Neighbor Club
Has January Meet
Mrs. Oren Walker and Mrs.
Howard Garner were hostesses
to the January 14 meeting of
the Cross lioads Good Neighbor
Club.
The president, Mrs. Garland
Cregg, called the meeting to or-
der and led prayer. The roll was
called by Mrs1. Robert Anderson
The project was a discussion of
how to make and display plastic
flowers, wall plaques, crochet
dolls and organdy aprons. Mrs.
J. V. Flowers' Jr. was appointed
to send birthday and get-well
cards. Mrs. Jim Cregg won the
door prize.
The hostesses served refresh-
ments to fourteen members and
cne guest, Mrs. Benny Clark.
The next meeting will be Jan-
uary 28. Mrs. Carl Adams and
Mio Odie Bridges will be hos-
tesses.

The Pecan Gap Baptist Church
will have two guest speakers for
its January 31 Sunday services.
Speaking at the 11:00 morning
service will be Murray Hardy, a
senior at Sunset High School,
Dallas, and also the grandson cf
Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Shew, Pecan
Gap. Rev. Hardy was recently
licensed to preach. At the 7:00
evening service, Marshall Mar-
tin, who is president of Sunset
High School student body, will
speak. The evening services will
be preceded by a film at the
Training Union hour.
Former Resident Passes Away
Conrad McCrary, a former res-
ident of Pecan Gap, passed away
in Dallas Tuesday. He was buried
at Leonard Wednesday.
The following people from here
attended the service: Mrs. J. E.
Bartlett, Mrs Grace Whittenburg,
I.Brs. Lillian Janmes and Miss
Pearl Cummings.
Carl Jones of Denison visited
here Friday.
R. W. Hagenswold, Bonham,
made a business trip here Friday.
O. F. Muncy made a business
trip to Cooper Friday.

tients at Leberman Hospital in
Commerce last week: Rev. J. B.

Marcom Hospital in Ladonia.
MisS Suzy Hibbert, Dallas,
spent the weekend here with her
parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. B. Hib-
bert.

Dona Lisa of Dallas spent the
weekend here with her mother,
Mrs. Pearl Lofton.
Mrs. Addie Merrill, who has
been a patient at Leberman Hos-
pital in Commerce, has been re-

bors will observe their 50th wedding anniversary with
an open house at their home in Charleston on Sunday,
January 31. Friends and relatives of the couple are in-
vited to call between 2 and 5 p.m. Mrs. Nabors is the
former Miss Florene Slakey.

bride and groom.

The Red River Valley Girl
Scout Council Annual Meeting
was held January 19, in Paris
with members attending from
Hugo, Cooper, Bogata, Clarks-
ville, Broken Bow, Lone Star,
Pittsburg and Paris.
Elected to the board were Ray-
mond Wunsch, second vice-presi-
dent, and John W. Biard, Treas-
urer, both of Paris; Newt Bryson,
Bogata; Mrs. Clovis Hooten Coop-
er; Mrs. J. D. Lawhom and Art
Harris, both of Hugo, for full
terms. Elected for one year of an
unexpired term were Mrs. Char-
les Pauly, secretary, and Mrs. A.
W. Clem, District One Chairman,
both of Paris; Mrs. L. J. Kirk Jr.,
District Three Chairman, Lone
Star; and MrS. Arch Merriott,
Hugo. Installation of new officers
and board members was conduct-
ed by Dorcy Mackey, board mem-
ber and former president of the
council.
Neighborhood Chairmen were
appointed as follows: Mary Pride,
G. A. JoneS; Hugo, Mrs. Joe An-
derson; Delta County, Mrs. Goe-
bel Templeton; Hopkins County,
Mrs. Allan Jacobsen; Pittsburg,
Mrs. Herbert L. Dobbs; Lone
Star, Mrs. L. V. Edge; and Oma-
ha-Naples, Mrs. Melvin Hicks.
During the business session
presided over by W. H. Ayres Jr.,
a brief annual report of activities
bride of Allison Beeler in a semi-
formal ceremony performed Sat-
turday, January 16, in the Second
Baptist Church in Dallas. The
Rev. L. M. Joines read the dou-
ble ring vows before a candle-
lighted altar decorated with bas-
kets of flowers.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. O. L. McDonald, Mesquite,
and parents of the groom are Mr.
and Mrs. Lawrence Beeler, Pe-
can Gap.
Traditional wedding music was
presented by Mrs. Murray South,
organist, who also accompanied
Lloyd Law, Soloist.
The bride, given in marriage
by her step-father, O. L. McDon-
ald, wore a ballerina length dress
of lace over taffeta.
Miss Flora Wade attended the
bride as maid of honor and was
attired in street-length dress of
green lace over taffeta.
Ronnie Beeler, brother of the
groom, served as best man. Ush-
ers were John Moss and Orville
Roberts, Dallas.
The candles were lighted by
Cindy Moore and Sammy McDon-
ald.
Following the ceremony, a re-
ception was held in the church
parlor. The refreshment table
was covered with a white lace
cloth over pink and centered
with a three-tiered wedding
and accomplishments of 1959 was
given and Ayres expressed ap-
preciation to all Girl. Scout
workers for their contribution to
Gii! Scouting and to the council.

highlights of the past five years

Course Scheduled
Leaders, assistant leaders and
troop committee members of
Brownie and Intermediate Girl
Scout Troops in District 1 of the
Red River Valley Girl Scout
Council will participate in a pro-
gram training session February
3, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at
the Holy Cress Episcopal Parish
Hall, Paris.
Activities will include the flag
ceremony, songs, singing games,
simple dramatics and group dem-
onstration and discussing of troop
activities and program planning.
Those attending will bring a sack
lunch with drinks available at
the meeting.
Mrs. G. R. Templeton, Neigh-
borhood Chairman of Delta
County urges all adult workers
to attend. MiSs Lorraine Wagner,
District Director, will give the
course.
