Daughters Convention
held June 20-21 in St
Philip’s Parish Hall.

Queen of Peace, No. 1374
were hostesses

from Yoakum, West,
Oflen, El Paso, Dallas,
Rowena, Austin, Roma,
Garland, and Houston
Approximately 175
guests were present dur-
ing the general session
which began at 1 p m
June 20.
Presiding state officers
included: Angie Sykora
of West, president; Gayle
Priesmeyer of El Campo,
vice-president; Mary
Ross of Yoakum, second
vice-president; Toni
Vance of Dallas,
secretary; and Jaclyn
Halfman of Oflen,
reporter.
Special guests in-
troduced during the open-
ing session were Lorette
Knebel, national first
vice regent; Mrs. Allan
Kuback of West, state
junior chairman; Linda
Sykora of West, national
junior secretary; Mrs.
Eleanor Treanor of
Houston, state CDA
regent; Rowena Johnson
of Weimer, state CDA
first vice regent.
Margaret Cutbirth of
Houston, state second
vice regent; Cecina Koe-

workshop session
A banquet was held at
7:30 p.m. in St. Philip’s
Parish Hall with Gayle
Priesmeyer as
toastmistress.
Guests of honor were
the state and national of-
ficers, Father James
Brunner of St. Philip’s,
Father Bernie Pustejov-
sky, chaplain of the
juniors, Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Priesmeyer, chair-
man of the local juniors.
Other special guests in-
cluded past state and na-
tional officers of F.l Cam-
po, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
Davis, Mr. and Mrs.
Willis Vickery, Mr. and
Mrs. Jay Harris, new
chairman of the local
court and Mrs Eugene
Netardus.
The El Campo court
captured first place in
the scrapbook competi
tion and took second
place for its banner.
These awards were
presented at the banquet.
State officers were
presented gifts and Gayle
Priesmeyer, on behalf of
the state officers, gave
Mrs. Allan Kubacek a
gift of appreciation for
her support.
Jaclyn Halfman of
Oflen was named
Outstanding Junior of
Texas.
A caucus was held for
candidates running for
state office. Each court
also participated in a
talent show, with the
Austin Court taking first
place.
A special party was
given in honor of Linda
Sykora, national
secretary, who will be
vacating her office this
month.
A contiental breakfast
was served at 7:45 a m.
June 21, followed by a
general session beginn-
ing at 8:30 a m.
New state officers were
elected. They include:
Mary Carol Ross of
Yoakum, president;
Patricia Zahanak of
West, first vice presi-
dent; Susan Korenek of
El Campo, second vice
president; Leah Puste
jovsky of Dallas,
secretary; and Vivian
