Mr. and Mrs. Librado Bernal of San Diego wish to announce the
engagement of their daughter Maricella Bernal to Robert Ray
Molina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tomas Joel Molina of Alice. The

Martinez/Infante
San Diego High School has
announced the selection of senior
Carmen Barrera and junior
Humberto Morin Jr. as March Stu-
dents of the Month.
Carmen is the 18 year old daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Raul Barrera Jr.
She is an active participant of the
Art Club. She has received a grant
from St. Mary’s University in San
Antonio offering the possibility of
having four years of tuition paid in
full. The scholarship requires her
to work towards one of the follow-
ing degrees: Engineering. Math-
ematics, or Science.
Her favorites include the color
black, Chinese food, spring, all
kinds of music, mathematics, and
“Seinfeld.” She uses the words
sincere, witty, and funny to de-
scribe her personality.
Spending time outdoors, read-
ing, barbecuing with her family,
and watching television are some
of the ways she spends her spare
Carmen Barrera
time. If given a weekend to do
whatever she desired. Carmen
would like to travel all over the
world and visit all the beautiful
islands.
She advises underclassmen that
“education is the key to success
and as a minority, we need to make

our mark in society.” Carmen plans
to attend either St. Mary’s Univer-
sity in San Antonio or Texas A&M
• Kingsville.
Humberto is the 17yearoldson
of Humberto and Rosario Morin.
He is an active member of National
Honor Society. U.I.L., and the
Fightin’ Vaquero Marching Band.
His favorites include the color
blue, pepperoni pizza, winter, coun-
try and “r&b” music, science, au-
thor Edgar Allan Poe, the sitcom
“Roseanne,” and the movie “The
Bodyguard.” Funny, clever, and
spiritual is how he describes his
personality in three words.
In his spare time, Humberto
enjoys spending time with his fam-
ily and friends, talking on the phone,
and listening to his music. Visiting
his favorite exotic spots and at-
tending the conceits of both Reba
McEntire and Whitney Houston is
how he would spend his dream
weekend.
The best advice he has recei ved
is “given any circumstances, with
the right approach and state of mind,
you can overcome any obstacle.”
Humberto’s future plans in-
clude working as an X-ray techni-
cian and eventually opening up his
own restaurant in memory of his
grandmother. He also figures on
marriage and children in his suc-
cessful future.
