then holds the Eagles on their
own end of the field and they
are forced to punt. A lot of pres-
sure was applied on the Eagle
punter forcing him to get off
only a 20 yard punt. Windthorst
gets the ball back on the
Goldthwaite 37 yard line with
time running out on the clock.
Brian Hoff runs for 8 yards on
3rd and 4 and then Green gained
11 yards. With 15 seconds left
on the clock and the ball on the
5 yard line Coach Green calls
time out. A decision is made to
kick a field goal. From the right
side hash mark, Brian Hoff kicks
a 22 yard field goal making the
score 24-21.
On the following kickoff,
Hoff kicks the ball into the end
zone. With seconds still left in
the game, Goldthwaite QB
Wesson throws a desperation
pass to midfield which was in-
tercepted by Waylon Wolf thus
ending the ball game.
Brad Green did a excellent
job of helping the Trojan de-
fense with field position in punt-
ing. He averaged 51 yards on 3
punts for the night. The Trojan
defense made numerous big
plays in controlling the momen-
tum of the Eagle’s offense. This
was a physical fought ball game
for both teams. Goldthwaite had
12 first downs and 41 carriers for
193 yards of rushing. The Tro-
jans has 11 first downs and 42
carries for 218 rushing yards.
Goldthwaite ends their
season with an 11-1 overall
record. Windthorst now 12-0
will play district rival Electra (6-
6) in the Regional Championship
game
#30 Brian Hoff kicks the winning field goal with 15 seconds remaining in the game.

This game should have
been for the State Champion-
ship. Both teams deserved to
win. However, we are glad that
it turned out the way it did. The
Trojans ranked #1 in the State
in Class A Division and
Goldthwaite ranked #4 played
each other Friday night at
Tarleton State University in
Stephenville. The State rank-
ing difference between the two
schools is 3. Ironic, that the
outcome of the game was a dif-
ference of 3. The Windthorst
Trojans won the Regional Semi-
finals game 24-21.
Both teams got on the
scoreboard during the first quar-
ter. Goldthwaite first TD was a
pass from Jefferson Wesson to
Bryan Miller that covered 30
yards (Miller kicked).
Windthorst countered with an
11 play 69 yard march with Pablo
Solorio, taking the ball in the last
2 yards. Brian Hoff’s kick made
the score 7-7.
Windthorst was able to
take the lead during the 2nd quar-
ter when Hoff ran 39 yards for
TD and kick. Score 14-7. Jason
McCoy intercepts QB
Wesson’s pass attempt and
makes a food return of 41 yards
as time ran out during the 1st half.
Goldthwaite used two
second half fumbles by
Windthorst to erase the deficit
each time on the scoreboard.
The Eagle’s Tye Moseley ran 17
yards following a turnover dur-
ing the 3rd quarter and Miller’s
kick failed making the score 14-
13.
Pablo Solorio plunged in
from 3 yards out during the 3rd
quarter, Hoff kicked the extra
point making the score 21-13.
Following an outstanding de-
fensive performance by the Tro-
jans during the 4,h quarter hold-
ing the Eagles inside their own
10 yard line, the Trojans take
over but lose the ball on a
fumble. Goldthwaite’s Walt
Clifton recovered fumble and ran
15 yards for a touchdown.
Wesson passed to Wade
Clifton for the 2 point conver-
sion tying the score at 21-21
with 5:50 left in the game.
The Trojans were unable
to continue their next to last
drive and were forced to punt.
Brad Green punts covers 58
yards down to the Eagles 10
yard line. The Trojans defense
